3rd time lucky - butterfly?

Just had my 3rd attempt at a butterfly hanger swirl. Decided to water discount for the 1st time too - used a 30% lye solution.

The batter behaved beautifully. And as per Newbie's tips I got to light trace then stopped with the SB to let it thicken up a little. Pouring went well too. I'm really happy with the recipe, water discount and scent (Jo Malone dupe of fig & cassis).

My base colour is very pale green with my other colours being peacock blue and purple. Put some grated cp soap coated in purple mica on top and a sprinkle of glitter.

I think if this doesn't work it is down to how I used my hanger swirl.

I love how razzle dazzle your top is. I've actually got my fingers crossed you end up with a peacock - not a butterfly.

Where did you get the FO from? I love Jo Malone!! Does it smell authentic?

Ooo, ahh. Gorgeous tops! Can't wait! It's been a complete bugger for me to learn. I've tried 2 times when starting out last fall (major fails), and recently made 4, the 3rd is nice enough, and my 5th is beautiful I think, but not really a butterfly. 1 more try and I'm DONE!

I'm not sure if the scent is a match as I've never actually smelt the Jo Malone version but it does smell like other fig & cassis scents I've come across before. It's from Skin Fresh here in the UK.

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed!!

Are you entered into the Great Cakes comp for January by any chance? I'm thinking if this one hasn't worked I will have time for 1 more attempt before we have to post pics.

I can't wait to see yours! Your color choice- I just have to laugh. On your other thread, I said I felt inspired to try one more time and I used a light green for the background, deep purple, pink and black- similar to yours. However, mine looks like a person with a bad tremor swirled it.

You have to post a cut pic as soon as can. The tops are glorious and I hope your inside is too!
