Am I the only one who uses this kind?

Nope. I use wood molds too. I have four 18 bar wooden molds that my husband has made for me. I love them and I also line them with freezer paper.

I mostly see people use narrow, tall molds. These are wide and make a 1-2 inch thick bar.

Mine do look narrower but I use a multi-soap cutter I got from Brambleberry and the soap is a little over an inch thick. Ill take a picture of them soon and post them.

yeah, you can't tell how wide they are by the pic. They are slab molds. I just see so many people with pics of loafs or logs. Is there a reason to prefer one over another? I did sort of a soap apprenticeship and when I left these are the molds my mentor gave me. I've only done these or silicone shapes.

Post a photo of them cut so we can see what you mean by a slab mold. I have a slab mold that is like a big bakeing dish. It is 12.5" by 10.5" ..... so a little bigger than a 13x9 pan. My wooden molds are 20" x 3.5".
