I want to make a 100% lard soap- sort of a novelty. I know I can add other things to it to make it a better soap. But I want to stick with 100% lard. When I run it through soap calc it gives a cleansing number of 1  Will this not be a soap that will clean? I wanted to use it as laundry soap, etc...

It will clean just fine, just know that there will be very little lather.

I add 1TBS PPO of Powdered sugar to my oils. I've always loved this method best...for me.

It will clean very nicely, when they did the single oil soap swap it was judged a 4.5 out of 5 ,a near perfect bar . When you run it through soapmaker3 it is indeed a very nice bar of soap . Ditto what Dixie said about sugar .

Thanks everybody! :) Well I just soaped it! I added 1 teaspoon of sugar per pound of oils...maybe not enough? We'll see how it comes out.

Thanks!

Kitn, (or anyone else) can you link to the posts about single oil soaps. If there is one?
Thanks!

You are welcome for the link !

Artisan I know what you mean , how can any soap not be cleansing ? I realize some will "cleanse " more than others but zero ?

this is a helpful link. i wondered why my soap had this kinda crumbly look and it seems like canola is the culprit.

i am new to soaping so i was worried about no cleansing also. i will try the sugar with the lye water mixture on my next batch tho.
