Hi, Everyone!

Does anyone know the SAP Value for Red Palm Oil? Is it different from "regular" palm oil? Discovering that I ordered the wrong product and wondering if I can make it work but I can't find it on SoapCalc. Thank you!

Red palm oil is just unrefined palm oil so you can use palm oil for the calculations. SAP is just an average of how many milligrams of lye it takes to saponify 1 gram of fat so there is going to be some leeway built into the value anyway.

Spoiler alert- your soap will come out looking like cheddar cheese. Mine did. But it's kinda nice, like having colored soap without having to use a colorant :)

Awesome! I'll check it out. I figured I would be dealing with quite a color situation with the RPO so I will definitely need to research that. Thank for the site/tip!

My 'cheddar cheese' soap made as a test sample for coloring has faded quite a bit since I made it about 4 months ago. I don't have my notebook handy so I can't tell you what percentage I used, sorry. The faded color isn't ugly - it's just a little rustic and no longer a vibrant orange/reddish color anymore.
