I made salt soap Sunday and today tried it, let me tell you....love it, love it, love it!
Made my hand soft and smells great, FO is Sweet Rain, i will repeat it again

You wan to know something funny...i made another batch just five minutes ago and enjoyed every minute of it :D

Hi, I too am addicted to IrishLass' salt bars... lol

I made them last week, I HP'd them in a crock pot, I did it ALL wrong and still, despite my best efforts, they are just gorgeous!

I will be making them again. And again. And again.

But I can stop any time I want to! I just don't want to...

Well, I have never made them CP so I can't really tell you what the difference is, but the process is pretty simple... Just mix you lye water with your melted oil in a crockpot, stick blend to medium trace, put the lid on and cook it on low. It will rise up, make sure you have enough room! Stir every so often (it probably doesn't need to be stirred as often as I do it, like every 10 minutes, but I like to feel involved). It will go through a separation stage, just keep stirring. After it looks like something between mashed potatoes and vaseline, anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, it is ready!

Turn off the heat, add fragrance and whatever else you want (like coconut milk mixture) and then finally your salt. Stir like crazy and put in mold ASAP!

I was so afraid that mine would harden up too quickly so I cut mine after an hour or two, it was too soon. Next time individual bars silicone mold!

That's really about it, you can do a search on hot process to get some great pics of what it is supposed to look like, and almost any recipe can be HP'd. I use a crock pot but you can also use a double boiler or the oven. Good luck! :)

It must be in the air!!! I just made Irish Lass' salt bars last week and tonight!!! Can't wait for them to cure as I'd been given one to try but haven't made any myself!! I was very dubious but now I'm also a convert!!!

If I can get my 4 month old to bed at a decent time tonight (not 11 pm like last night) then I'm going to try to make a salt soap tonight. I'm going to make Irishlass's recipie 100% CO & 100% milk using the split method. The only powdered coconut substance I could find though was coconut cream. Not sure if this is the same or something different. We'll see how it works out!

Good luck! Welcome to the club of salt soap addiction, you are going to love that soap :)

Hope you get to do it soon...the first lot I made was with leftover creamed coconut...the tryout with one of the bars was great!! (my EO choice wasn't but that's not the recipe's fault!!! ahem.) Last night,I decided to be faint of heart and go unscented. Stupidly I didn't push the mixture in well enough into the ind. molds!!!So I jokingly call it rock candy...it's multi-coloured and fun looking anyway.... But this morning smelling them, they actually do smell like candy!! I love it! Thanks again Irish Lass...

This sounds like fun. I've been wanting to make some salt bars. So what is the special IrishLass salt bar recipe?

i made 70% coconut 15% castor and 15% olive, very pleased with result, i IrishLass is making 100% coconut, if i'm not wrong, i have to try that too
