I've been reading a lot about salt bars, but didn't want to hijack punkflash54's post.
A few questions:
-If the bar is 95-100% coconut oil, isn't it drying?
One would logically expect this to be the case, but it actually isn't drying at all (at least not to me). The salt somehow cuts down on the drying factor. I've superfatted my salt bars anywhere from as low as 8% all the way up to 15% and have never felt dried out by them.

-What are the benefits of salt bars other than exfoliation?
Actually, salt bars do not exfoliate..... at least not when fine-grain salt is used. If you use coarse-grain salt you may get some exfoliating action, but it will be quite short lived because the salt in the bar dissolves as you are bathing with it. I make mine with fine-grain sea salt.
Some benefits I've noticed are these (please keep in mind these are just anecdotal. Results will vary from person to person and from one's salt bar recipe to another's salt bar recipe):
-They are rock-solid bars that last a
long time.
-My hubby noticed if he nicked himself when shaving with my salt bars that although the cut would sting, the cut would heal faster than he is normally used to.
-We have hard water, but using a salt bar makes it feel like we are bathing in soft water.
-My nephew noticed a reduction in his teenage acne when using my salt bars.
-They leave my skin feeling extra-fresh and invigorated.

-Do you do everything the same, except for oil types?
I'm not sure I understand what you are asking on this question. If you are asking if I vary my salt bar recipe for individual skin-types, then the answer is no, but I wouldn't be averse to doing so if someone requested it. Was that what you were asking?

-Do you add the salt at trace, and how much?
I add my salt at medium-to-heavy trace, right before I pour. I used to add as much as 100% salt, but after a bit of tweaking and experimenting, I now use 25% salt.

-What do you normally use to color it?
Just my normal oxide and ultramarine colorants.
