Are there any oderless soap bases?

I have several FOs that I've been using, first with CP, but the resulting scent is almost offensive. The result with MP is fine, but the scent of the base competes with my fragrance blend. I've made totally oderless CP soaps with 100% olive oil, so I guess I"m just wondering if it's possible...

Are there any oderless soap bases?

Ok, thanks. I guess I need to start looking for an all-natural MP base. I hate to ask, but can I simply make and remelt a fragrance-free CP soap, like 100% olive oil soap, and add my fragrance during the remelt, or will it damage it in some way? I"m trying to avoid damaging the FOs, which...

Are there any oderless soap bases?

Hi everyone, I recently ordered a pure white soap base from Brambleberry, but it has a fairly strong odor to it that seems to be getting in the way of my fragrance blend. Does anyone know of any MP bases that are completely, or relatively odorless? Thanks:razz:

    Does remelting affect FO integrity?

Thanks, everyone. I suspected the FOs would be affected, but wanted to make sure. I've been trying the qtip method, but havent had much luck. I'll just keep making small batches, I guess. Thanks for the input!

    Does remelting affect FO integrity?

Hi All, I'm a new MP soapmaker, and I have a basic question. I'm trying to work on a fragrance blend, and I'd like to avoid making dozens of 2 lb batches to get it right. Can I start with a large batch, using my core fragrances, let it set completly, and then remelt, adding varying amounts...

    Scent problems - help!

Thanks so much for the input. I'll study up on fragrance notes. I had no idea there was so much science to scents! Sounds like my ratios might be the issue, as you pointed out. I'm using scents like coconut, vanilla, and raspberry fragrance oils. Can their scent qualities be preserved...

    Scent problems - help!

Hi everyone, I'm trying to combine a few scents to get a blend, and something very odd is happening. When I smell the bag in which the scents arrived (with the bottles in the bag, caps closed), the blended scent given off is perfect for what I want. But when I blend the scents together in an...

Easiest way to pure white that won't dry me out?

Thanks, Gryfonmoon. This is great to hear. I see fractionated coconut oil as being listed with an indefinite shelf life on several sites. Is the nonfractionated variety that is available in supermarkets also unlimited in shelf life? Would you say that one better than the other for CP soap...

Easiest way to pure white that won't dry me out?

I hadn't even heard of that! Is it an exfoliating soap bar, basically? If I could get a recipe, I'd love to try it! I would think the salt would act as a natural preservative, to some extent. Very interested - thanks to everyone for the input.

Easiest way to pure white that won't dry me out?

Thanks! For superfatting, is there any way to prevent spoilage? I've been told that it will go bad if you have left over oil in the soap.

Easiest way to pure white that won't dry me out?

Hello all, I'm a newbie soaper looking to make the whitest soap I can, but so far, the 100% coconut soap I've made is too drying to the skin. What's the best way to get pure white soap that actually works well? I've heard of: 1) titanium dioxide 2) white colorants 3) animal lard I'm...
