Does anyone know what the moisturizer is in Dove soap. Is the bar of soap 1 quarter cream ?..that doesn't seem possible.. Anyone have thoughts on this? David

I've heard that if the soap doesn't have a nice uniform look it could be the result of unsaponified lye. I'm not sure if that is what I'm seeing here.

Iodine level is 42. I'm using 75% palm & 25% coconut.

So if my Gardner's soap comes out to 173 I shouldn't worry?

A recipe on soapmakingresource.com has me adding the almond milk immediately after mixing the lye with my oils. But I have heard that raising the temperature of the milk too fast may cause it to burn.. or is that with goat's milk? maybe thats not the case with almond milk..

******UPDATE****** I just finished my second batch.. No Soda ash. I just covered with Syran Wrap (pressed down against the top of the soap). I did not spray with alcohol. Hopfully no soda ash will occur during curing. This batch is 40% tallow, 20 castor,20 olive, 20 coconut. With lavender...
