Pumice in melt and pour soap

I haven't worked with pumice, but I have worked with poppyseeds and other exfoliants. If you want the exfoliant to be suspended throughout the soap (rather than sink to the bottom or float to the top) then you either need to use a suspension soap base or you need to allow the base to cool to...

    First melt and pour

I haven't made the cubes, but I have done some of her other projects and they've all come out really nice. :) I'd be worth giving them a try! I don't know if you can use M&P soaps in a CP though?

My CP efforst as of late

LOVE the idea of your tea soap! And your embed turned out nice. I like the contrast between the white and the dark color of the surrounding soap.

Beautiful basket of soaps! I like the wavy cutter look too. I've found myself using it quite often. :)

Help me pick a new name!! Free Stuff!!!

I like Posh Me! Cute! How about Posh & Pretty, or Pretty & Posh? Maybe some other words that go along the same lines, like Sassy, Diva (there's a local hair salon here called The Diva Den), umm... I guess that's all I've got! It's tough to come up with a business name!

Welcome to the SMF Family!! Please read this first :)

Because I have small kids at home I was thinking that I would start out with Melt & Pour and then if that goes well I'll move on to cold process. I'm planning on this year being a "learning year" for me, maybe by Christmas I'll be ready to sell, but I'm not going to rush it. After looking at...

Specialty Soap Bases (olive oil, shae butter, etc)

Thanks! Good to know before I start experimenting! The local supplier has excellent prices on soap base and shae butter, but no shae butter soap. So hoping that this might save me some money. :)

Specialty Soap Bases (olive oil, shae butter, etc)

Ok, so I bought my first batch of soap ingredients today and I ran into a situation where the local supply store doesn't carry a lot of variety. One of my recipes calls for shae butter soap. If I add a tablespoon of shae butter to a white base will that be essentially the same thing? Or is...

    Affordable Melt and Pour Base

Just thought I'd post my recent discovery for Soap Base. Shay & Company (a family owned business in Portland, OR) offers clear melt & pour base in 44 lbs. tubs for $77. I was there today and they also have white melt & pour, ultra clear, and goats milk. The lady there was super nice and...

    Natural Green Colouring?

You can buy chlorophyll in powder form at health food stores. You'll find it in the section where they sell vitamins and herbs. It comes in a capsule, but you can easily open them up and use what's inside.

Hi All! I'm Amy, and I'm brand new to soap making. I've been looking for a craft that suited me for a long time and up until recently the only thing I was a natural at was cooking. It's been my passion now for 10 years and I was hoping to start a business related to cooking - until I...
