    Marigold Soap my way

This looks absolutely terrific, but can you explain the soda (like what kind and why?) Litsea Cubeba, Lavander and Lime?? - Why? Are these necessary or can they be left out? How much? What IS Litsea Cubeba?? Thanks!

    General EO question??

THANK YOU so much for the links. @Soapy Gurl - Thank you! I'm trying hard to follow along, but sometimes it's not so easy! ;-)

    General EO question??

*sigh* What is PPO? I tried searching for it and of course, got 41 pages or something of results. I tried google and got financial stuff. Is there a primer of terms/abbreviations anywhere?

    General EO question??

Thanks! ETA: Soap Calculator? Link? Does it fill this in for you automatically? Details please.

    General EO question??

Is there a rule of thumb regarding how much EO to use in a recipe? Or a general reference page somewhere? For instance, I want to do a batch with lavender EO, but want to be sure I use enough without using too much. (Or if this is something one of the calculators could help with, could...

    Shampoo Recipe

And not everyone here KNOWS that there is a lye calculator or where to find one that is accurate or that they would need to do that. MANY people here seem to have forgotten what it was like to be new and still learning. Telling people to search forums (which is overwhelming, to say the...

Oh no! Please don't stop sharing! It melted/rebatched just fine, so no worries! :D (and oh man, it looks beautiful!) I mean really, you're only human, right? ;-)

    Shampoo Recipe

Thank you so much! I only did it yesterday, so it should be fine. It will probably not be until tomorrow afternoon before I can do it.

    Shampoo Recipe

That was what I thought. I have company on the way, so it will have to wait a day or so before I try again or throw it out. Thank you!

    Shampoo Recipe

Oh no! I made this without the coconut oil! I hadn't seen this update. Do I need to throw it out or can I melt it down and add the CO?

So if looking for spectrum shortening, then I would look... with the baking stuff at the natural store?

    Shampoo Recipe

But the second recipe listed is already using 30% CO to begin with. If I eliminate the PO, should I just increase the other oils equally? Or substitute it with something else or is there one oil that would be better to increase on its own?

    Shampoo Recipe

Hm. I would have to order the palm oil. I can not find it anywhere local and I'd love to try this soon - is there a suitable substitute that might be more readily available?

    Shampoo Recipe

Ok, that makes sense, thank you. There may be lots to read, but it's also incredibly overwhelming to try and dig through (maybe someone experienced could make a "primer" sticky post for newbies?), so I asked. But in the above recipe, does that mean the recipe as it stands has 8% superfat or...

    Shampoo Recipe

Showing my noob-ness again - What is pomace quality??? Annnnd- 8% superfat? Can you explain? I'm still learning to read all this stuff. ;-) Thanks!

    Cocoa Butter vs. Shea Butter?

*nods* The hardness is what made me ask. Using avocado oil as well (which I also already have, yay!) is a great idea. The soap sounds wonderful, do you have the recipe handy? I'm still learning how to tweak, etc.

    Cocoa Butter vs. Shea Butter?

S'ok! I figured it probably got lost in the shuffle. I really wish I wasn't allergic as I love it. :D
  19. raynedanser

    Cocoa Butter vs. Shea Butter?

That may well be, but it doesn't make a lot of difference if I'm allergic and can't use the end result.
