Making soleseife with potassium chloride salt?

Update I redid my lather tests with the 3.5% sodium soap, no salt soap, 5.55% potassium soap, and 11.1% potassium soap. This time I was checking for how long it took for a dry freshly shaved curl to lather. The results were what you would expect them to be with the sodium soap taking it's sweet...

Update. I made three test batches each a day apart. They all were made with olive oil, a 37% lye solution, and a 5% superfat. 3.5% sodium salt brine 5.55% potassium salt brine 11.1% potassium salt brine When carving the date into the bars the 5.55% potassium bar was harder at 24 hrs than the...

The effects of different process (cp, hp, cpop) on long cure (6-12+) OO and other plant based soap

Okay, so three days after making the salt only soap I tried shaving the edges again and the shavings chipped. I don't think it chipped quite as much as the version that had baking soda which I shaved at two days after making it. I should also note that the salt only lye water looked normal but...

The effects of different process (cp, hp, cpop) on long cure (6-12+) OO and other plant based soap

I made another HO Sunflower batch of Zany's soap but left out the baking soda. After one day in the mold it was hard but didn't chip when I shaved the edges. Interesting.

Making soleseife with potassium chloride salt?

Thank you for all this information! It will help me design my experiments better. I gotta say the fact that no one else seems to have done this makes me want to try it even more. I'll post my results when they're ready.

The effects of different process (cp, hp, cpop) on long cure (6-12+) OO and other plant based soap

I used HO Sunflower oil and it's white already. I didn't notice any difference in color. I hope to get around to trying one with olive oil. I'll update you all when I do that.

Making soleseife with potassium chloride salt?

Has anyone tried making soleseife with potassium chloride? I've been reading about the wonders of dual lye bar soap and I'm wondering if dual salt soap would have any benefits. I thought I'd ask you all before putting in my order for potassium hydroxide to see if it would be worth ordering...

The effects of different process (cp, hp, cpop) on long cure (6-12+) OO and other plant based soap

I made a batch of Zany's castile but with HO sunflower. I could believe how hard it was after two days in the mold. When I shaved the edges they broke into bits. So interesting how much difference a little salt and baking soda can make. I'm going to make another batch but with just salt and see...

The effects of different process (cp, hp, cpop) on long cure (6-12+) OO and other plant based soap

Thank you for your thorough response! I think I'll make zanys castile tomorrow. I want to test a variety of plant based soaps to see what my skin likes best and that one looks promising.

The effects of different process (cp, hp, cpop) on long cure (6-12+) OO and other plant based soap

Good morning! I'm hoping some kind people could share their knowledge and experience about a topic I am confused on. For those of you who make long cure (6-12+ months) OO soap and other plant oil/butter soap, do you use hp, cp, or cpop? Something else? If you've done more than one process are...
