    Opposites Pull Throughs

Finally! I guess it is soapy beans for dinner tonight. Now I’m late and I don’t have time to get my soapamine fix! oh I sure didn’t. Several rookie mistakes that I hope to not repeat!! But it is how we learn. They were interesting. Here’s how they finally turned out. A couple of questions-my...

    Opposites Pull Throughs

Arghhhhh I didn’t leave headroom!! I got a smaller one out finally by standing on the can!! It’s been out of the freezer for 30 minutes. I didn’t leave headroom! Damn! Got this far. Should I freeze again? Run hot water over the mold? Just leave it set for awhile?

    Opposites Pull Throughs

Help! I can’t get them out of the mold! They were sitting for 20 hrs, put in freezer for 2 more hours. Ow what? Using cans to push it won’t budge.

    Goat tallow and goat milk

Wow, you really stuck in there! I haven’t used goat tallow, just goat milk. When I researched it before, goat milk will scorch at 180• I have soaped at 120• previously, but I usually soap around 100• these days and my recipe gives me a longer trace time, it contains lard. One thing I do...

    Opposites Pull Throughs

Ok, they are in the oven and I’m still alive! I think I learned a few things and experimented with how much to squeeze out. Why do I have to wait till tomorrow? Or (gasp) possibly the day after??!!!!

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

Ok, today is the day!! I got my molds and discs from Wild Plantica, @ $100. I’m using one that mounts the disc on the side and one that is in the middle. I watched a YouTube video of the owner (I assume) from Wild Plantica and she poured right down the center rod, so I want yo check it out in...

First time making goat's milk soap, what happened?

I make goats milk soap exclusively. I don’t use any coloring in it and it is naturally a creamy white. I stop gel so the milk won’t burn as it begins to heat up again at emulsion +, and I soap at a lower temperature now. I usually do individual molds as it is easier to stop gel. On a big loaf I...

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

@Tammyfarms @TashaBird after some research on pricing I ended up ordering from wild plantica, they seemed to have the best selection and a reasonable price. Now to find some time to play!!

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

Tammy, I think they are beautiful! You give me hope for my upcoming first try. I looked on Amazon, cheap sets but some bad reviews on breaking and they don’t seem to have caps. Saw a video with some handmade ones pulling with 3 wires. The Etsy set is a little pricey. I might try making one just...

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

Than Thanks, I’ve been investigating. That is so interesting! I’m going to get some tools and try it. This looks like tons of fun. hopefully they will be worth posting! My recipe has lard (love the stuff) and is slow to trace. What is a “Yorker” bottle? I did see a video with handmade tools...

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

Thank you so much Tammy. I appreciate it. I’m going to try some, I’m sure my colors won’t be too vivid, I only do goat milk soap and prevent the gel.

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

I don’t think a small humidifier would make that much difference. I’m in Colorado which is dry as a biscuit. And your soaps aren’t real big. I soaped once in high humidity and my soaps sweat really bad, but no cracking or anything else. But they came out the frig too

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

Wow!! Some of the snow flowers (blue) remind me of brain slices. Probably better stick with winter flowers lol. How do you do that? If you don’t mind sharing.

    Altering recipe when using scents

I was using a FO holiday scent (The Christmas Song-Wellington) and it acted funny in my recipe. It could have been something in the FO. Then I just began to wonder since 2-2 1/2 oz is quite a bit, but is the recommendation.
