Hey! Doesn't the lye water boil at some point? Mine got close to 200 recently and I quickly emerged the pain ice water bc I was scared it would boil.

I use frozen fresh milk. I usually use it slushy and try not to let it get above 100, then bring it to 90F to soap. Thank you. I have actually tried that and it usually gels to about 90% and leaves a ring, lol. I am afraid of overheating but I will experiment with temps and pursue that option...

About lye fumes. I watched a Muddy Mint video in which they used 50# bags of lye to make up lye solution. That is a lot of fume potential! They said they do not have fumes bc they pour the lye onto ice. Maybe try that?

That is actually a beautiful soap! Wait it out and see how it cures. But I will say, as someone who uses exclusively essential oils that I would be positive that is not essential oil. Way, way too cheap! Amazon has a lot of fake essential oil sellers, and you cannot rely on them for good...

I am wondering if maybe you could use gold or silver leaf as they are very thin? Just a thought. Also, since it is a gift this is not relevant but for others actually the words salve and balm are considered medical terms as well and you would be good to avoid them.

Soap needs to breathe. Plastic wrap will cause the soap to go rancid. I do believe there is a special kind for soap but idk what it is, but even storing soap in a plastic bag will ruin it.
