I have been curious about this… Since oats have no sugar, can you mix the oatmeal directly with a lye? Or is this how you end up with the gluggy texture?

I am experimenting with carrot soap. I made one with carrot juice only plus some annatto powder for color. I see recipes that also include carrot purée, in addition to juice. Can anyone explain the qualities that the puree adds? I wonder if the additional organic material would tamp down...

Haha yes, I love the cutting process too! I could watch Holly at Holly’s Soapmaking cut soap all day long!! I have heard several people say the cheap versions on Amazon problematic and not really worth it. I will definitely look at the Hercules. Do you know it also planes or bevels?

Here is a picture I recently took of my little soap collection. Plus this week’s adventure - carrot soap and last week’s shot at a one-pot wonder. I have sensitive skin so just using clays, herbs some EOs and such. I enjoy the micas vicariously. Have gotten a lot of help from this community! ❤️🙂
