November 2024 SMF Challenge - Hello Yellow! Entry Thread

My entry for this challenge. Made with high oleic sunflower oil. 3% Himalayan rhubarb infused oil for the red and 1% tumeric infused oil for the yellow. Scented with WSP hipster The red set up really fast. I could feel it "breaking" as the chopstick crossed it. Here's the batter: And the...

Experiment: Scent Fixing & Gel Phase

I use arrowroot powder for my slurry. Works very well for me. 1tsp ppo.

Question: is this a good idea

Yeah, it should work just fine I think. I infuse in castor primarily because I use it in 3 different recipes. I still have to infuse in olive, coconut, and sunflower to cover all my recipes so far. @curlycoat2 has way more experience in the infusion realm than I do. Her soap and knowledge are...

Question: is this a good idea

Happy to say I did not go with the split the lye water plan. Don't know what the heck I was thinking back then with that honestly🤦🏿‍♂️ but good sense prevailed in the end😁

Question: is this a good idea

Only the infused castor oil. There was one lye water mixture. That saved at least 7 bowls Yeah. That's exactly what I did!😁 You're so much better at describing the process than I am!

Question: is this a good idea

I forgot to mention that I did give it a go and it went rather well. Great reduction in dirty bowls and a time saver. And, the colors are still there. Soap is here

    Just some guy's soaps

So, the chemically smell of the ZCS has eaten the Tonka & Tobacco fragrance. 😭 Anyone know the odds that it'll fade away in 6 weeks and the fragrance oil returns?

    Just some guy's soaps

I cut the coconut soap. No yellow. A little brown and a whole lotta white😁 Then I cut the ZNSC. It didn't fully gel. It's still green😳🤯 and it's a wee bit soft

SMF November 2024 Challenge - Hello Yellow!

Thanks! First time I read the rules I swore it said 75% yellow! Now I see 50%. Okay. Time to get moving!

    Just some guy's soaps

A big batch of ZNCS colored with 3% Alkanet root olive oil. ,5% sodium gluconate, 4% lavender, oakmoss lavender oil (.5 tsp ppo). 50% olive, 50% pomace. It's looking very green😬🤞🏿

    Just some guy's soaps

Pure coconut oil. Scented with nature's garden Tonka&Tobacco. Half contains ZCS the other half does not. Soaped at 100° and it was to hot🤦🏿‍♂️ It should come out brown and white. But, I'm just not seeing it😳😬🤞🏿 Forgot the sodium gluconate🤦🏿‍♂️

SMF November 2024 Challenge - Hello Yellow!

My dividers don't do a 75% split. They do thirds instead. So, I gotta regroup and rethink. I might not make it again😭

    What's your favorite soap?

Fragrance and bubbles. Those are the two things I find people looking for in soap. Although visually interesting gets their attention, good smelling holds it...
