I did use FCO last year. Can't say it was much different in terms of hardness compared with my other soaps. Probably due to the copious amount of PO that balanced out. But I remembered the FCO was 3 times the price of my normal CO. This was my recipe. 20% FCO 38.5% PO 27.5% RBO 11% OP 3% Castor

You could find different types of waste oil (if possible) and mix them for a more balanced recipe. I take it you previously made a canola soap and it turned out different from this batch?

I used to think I want my soaps to last long. But now having a bountiful stash of soap at home, I can't wait for them to melt away in the shower like a salt bar. That said, I do have some stearic acid that I could throw into soap to see how it compares with my normal recipe.

Attempted 2 small 500g batches. #1 turned out as good as I could hope for. Fluid batter, more or less distinct lines, even remembered to put in some knots. Waiting to cut tomorrow. #2 was a flop. FO sped it up. Will not be considered for entry. Hopefully I have time for more attempts.
