    Bought my own Christmas gift!

I finally broke down and bought a soap cutter. Merry Christmas to me! Who else had soap supplies on their gift list? Happy holidays to my favorite soap community!

    My Fellow Larders

I'm another. I use lard instead of palm.

Thank you! The wax always wins! :)

    My growing soap stash

That was my slab mold, which I'm finally getting the hang of using. I just use a couple of old pans that fit together and wipe it out with a paper towel while it's still warm. Beeswax is like soap... you just sacrifice a few implements to beeswax because they'll never be the same again!

    My growing soap stash

I know what you mean! I've also made lotion bars and lip balm while trying to keep the wax fluid! It's definitely a challenge. One technique I tried that seems to help is to melt the beeswax in a double boiler along with some coconut oil (if your recipe includes it). More heat mass with the...

    My growing soap stash

It's tricky using beeswax and keeping it melted when you mix with oils. I used beeswax for a while and like the added firmness. But it's a pain. I did a bunch of reading about honey before I got up my nerve. I mixed a tsp PPO with some of my water, maybe a tablespoon. After my oils were melted...

    My growing soap stash

I signed up for a few craft sales so I have been busy lately. I keep tweaking recipes and trying new things as I keep learning. Here are a few recent soaps. This one was a new recipe including some lanolin and honey. I have bees and have been using beeswax but was scared of honey. No volcanoes...

Getting to the bottom of the mold

Thank you! Would I mix the mica with a bit of batter or just disperse in some oil? Oh I love that idea!

Getting to the bottom of the mold

It's a small slab cut into 4 bars. Good suggestion for in the pot swirl. I was wondering how to "paint" the bees. I'll have to try that with some of these molds. Thanks! I had a really small amount of black and it was starting to thicken up. That makes sense. I was pouring directly into the...

Getting to the bottom of the mold

Thank you to the person who said to grease plastic Milky Way molds with mineral oil and freeze. It's magical. My question is probably elementary, but I'm having trouble getting my swirl to reach the bottom of the mold, where the bees are. It is kinda cool having 2 designs in 1 bar, but should I...

    Just saying hi

Our farm is called Bee Haven Berry Farm. My husband thinks it's hilarious to call me that. :)

    Just saying hi

I've been reading and learning from you all so I guess I should be sociable. I've been doing CP since December and have made 19 batches. Mostly I've been happy with results but still have plenty to learn. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
