I finished my first batch of soap!

Also, (thankfully) I did not seem to have any issues with soap ash, glycerin rivers, or warping. On the plus side, I have prepped the beer well in advance and I have plenty this time!

I finished my first batch of soap!

Hi All! So with half of my water amount being beer, does this change your advice of 2:1? Also, I was considering reducing the “Water” portion of my water amount and keeping the “Beer” portion. Soapcalc doesn’t seem to have an option to calculate beer (silly).

I finished my first batch of soap!

Thank you for the feedback! Stick blending: YES, definitely going to slow down the blending and add some stirring to the process. Fragance Oils vs. Essential Oils: Great input here, thank you! When I was trying to research if “Leather” was a base note, I learned that leather fragrance could...

Curing and Ventilation in warm climates

Aloha! I live in Hawaii and I’m going to make my first batch of soap in a few weeks (once all my online orders arrive). Once I begin the curing phase (4-6 weeks), I have extremely limited areas to have my soap hang out undisturbed. The two spots I‘m considering for curing: - linen closet...

    Future Noob Soapmaker

Thank you, all! I appreciate the feedback very much. I’m definitely shifting my aim toward a 6QT pot now. I guess my big worry was that I start mixing/blending the oils & lye and have spill over. I’m used to brewing beer (when I did that), so all my pots were huge for making 5-15 gallon...

    Future Noob Soapmaker

Aloha everyone! I wanted to ask a question before I start unloading my Amazon wishlist into the cart. I’ve watched an inhuman amount of videos on YouTube and read Kelly Cable’s book on The Natural Soapmaking Book for Beginners. I’ve seen folks using anything from plastic to glass to stainless...
