Help me with my foaming bath whip scrub

I made the paste then the sugar scrub 4 times. Can't get it to whip at all. It whips, then flattens all of a sudden and turns into a thick treacle or gum like consistency. Tried cooling etc, but doesn't whip up again. Doesn't foam either... at all I mean, not a small lather. It's a shame because...

    Laundry soap oil confusion.....

Oh thanks. I hadn't seen that tip anywhere, so that's really good to know 🙂

    Laundry soap oil confusion.....

Ok so I'm looking at making a laundry soap but I'm a bit confused about the recipes. I've read through threads here and some online and I get the CO part. Makes sense. Pulls out the oils in the laundry. I don't really understand the rest. There are lots of formula suggestions. Tallow, OO etc...

    Syndet shampoo bars..... confused

Ahh ok, that makes more sense. The recipe was written like a soap recipe, giving the superfat % in the introduction notes. It said to adjust for hair type, but no explanation about what that meant. Thanks @DeeAnna

    Print head soap

Great idea. I think you're looking at a long process of trial and error until you get the recipe right. I don't have any info that will help specifically but surfactants will foam up the recipe a lot.... I would definitely be careful about which one you choose and how much. They are more...

    Syndet shampoo bars..... confused

I'm looking into shampoo bars and doing a bit of research at the moment. I'm a bit confused about superfat. I read a few of recipes where they talked about adjusting the superfat content for oily or dry hair (syndet bar recipe not soap recipe). But as far as I understood it from making CP...

    Bizarre Pour.... any ideas?

The spots were really white when I cut through the soap. I've heard of lye clumps in other posts, I was more worried that they might be lye as the colour made more sense initially. But I suppose that's my wierd newbie brain at work.

    Bizarre Pour.... any ideas?

I've never heard of high or low melt shea. How do I know which is which?

Ooooh thanks @GemstonePony . Wonderful. Ok lesson learnt. At least I can still use the soap.

    Bizarre Pour.... any ideas?

@TheGecko so after some soaping, I think you're right. Palm oil..... ok so as a relative newbie I have a question. Probably a stupid one but I dont know the answer. The bizarre spots aren't dangerous are they? Can I still use the soap?

    Bizarre Pour.... any ideas?

Ooooh. Yes it is cheaper. I have some for a couple of recipes at only 10%, but maybe I can up it and move things around..... I like this @earlene . Thank you

    Bizarre Pour.... any ideas?

I agree. Cost is always an issue. In HK, all oils are pretty expensive if they aren't peanut or sunflower based. HK is a very small country so we don't grow anything and it all has to be imported. The cost is pretty much the same for everything else.... high. 1 litre of OO is HK$170 which is...

    Bizarre Pour.... any ideas?

Ah ok, so nothing I can do or watch out for, just that it might be better to use something else like cocoa for example. Ok, that definitely helps. I might try a few with other butters. I seem to remember starting with cocoa butter, but it was a while ago now. I can't remember why I swapped now...

    Bizarre Pour.... any ideas?

Sorry guys. I didn't get any notifications on replies... apologies for the late replies I tend to just heat the butter and allow it to warm through everything. Works pretty well in general, but maybe that's the problem. Like ai mentioned, it's my regular recipe and it only happens very very...

    Fragrance oil

This is quite a good link for recipes and checking safety. You have to be careful with some EOs as they can irritate the skin. Enter Your Own Blend » Essential Oil Calculator

    Bizarre Pour.... any ideas?

I didn't check that, but if it happens again I'll definitely investigate the fragrance. I don't remember it being overwhelming, but it was a while ago now. Hmmm ok, so maybe it could be an odd batch from my supplier..... I use them regularly and the other soaps haven't done that, so maybe...

    Bizarre Pour.... any ideas?

I didn't but it's my go too recipe and I've never had problems before. No I usually mix and then add EOs, so there wasn't any in there. But even if I'd added them, I've made this soap before with no problems and I've had this jelly thing happen only 1 other time and it's been a different combo...

    Bizarre Pour.... any ideas?

Hey everyone. So I've had a couple of wierd issues with mixing recently. I have a basic recipe that I've done over and over with no issues, but every so often when I add the lye water to the oils, I get these wierd clumpy bits forming. The lye water looks fine on it's own and the oils look...
