What soapy thing have you done today?

Love your soaps! Did you post the cuts yet? The colors are wonderful to me. To remind anyone who cares, FOs are chemical scents, though can sometimes contain EO (s) in the blend. Yes I know everything technically is a chemical, but it's not the same. In a world where we are bombarded with...

Saves a lot of money, not to mention heartache from seize or discoloration. ;)

    LS Success!!

I wanted opaque LS, and used stearic acid which was supposed to pearlize, or that was my understanding,, but still got clear, so I'd say it's more difficult to get opaque LS. A superfat of 1% didn't change it, either.

    LS Success!!

Congratulations, well done!! I Love my LS and just thrilled to not buy it anymore! Plus, it's fun to make. ;) Store your undiluted paste in the fridge, if you can.

What soapy thing have you done today?

@Rune, If I recall, I added my white kaolin at trace. When I used Rhassoul clay, I also added at trace. I don't recall noticing any change to the thickness or speed of my batter from either clay, but those batches may all have been HP, which has 38 to 42% water. Bingo, Rune - Have you tried...

What soapy thing have you done today?

In English, the fat of all animals except pig/hog/porcine is called tallow, whereas pig fat is called lard. Reindeer is not listed in SoapCalc, and I could not find an SAP value on line (although I only spent a minute looking). Reindeer are not so common; not many countries are blessed to...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Forgive me if this has already been said, @Rune but this is my suggestion. I would remove everything from your soap recipes except oils, water, lye, and colorants. Work with the basic ingredients until you determine either what is causing your soap to over thicken, or you develop a recipe...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Nothing soapy lately -- busy with other things, including a new obsession I'm having fun with whilst enjoying all the wonderful soaps I've already managed to produce. I have 8 half or quarter bars in the shower and honestly love every one of them. Meanwhile, the soaps from Jan - March...

Class of 2018 – Thank You!

Why, thank you so much, Zany! :D I've wanted to mention this for a while, now, how I appreciate the old posts so much -- 2011 to 2014, when there was sooo much learning, experimentation, and lots of technical stuff being discussed ('science galore'), so we REALLY should be thanking YOU and all...

    Post your Gripe

This is not meant to be funny. I had a gripe yesterday and thought about this thread ... but now I can't remember what it was!! I guess I got over it.

How to get rid of squeaky clean feeling in soap

I find cocoa butter and sometimes other butters give a "squeak" while rinsing off the lather. My skin doesn't feel stripped of oils or over-cleansed, though; so for me at least, it isn't the same as 'squeaky clean'. So it depends -- hard to say without knowing exactly what's going on for you...

Making More "Secret Rose" Soap and a 60% Himalayan Pink Salt Bar :)

Stunning soaps!! Your secret roses are sooooo amazing. :nodding: I really like the drop swirl ones (?), too. That's the same color combo on my soleseife and it makes me happy every time I look at it. ;)

Cut the HP soap I made last night!

I think the blue is coming from the Ultramarine Blue Pigment I mixed into the Indigo, now that I think about it. All the soaps I've used this Ultramarine in have had discolored lather. I might be using too much ... not sure, but will have to remind myself that I'm not painting or applying...

Cut the HP soap I made last night!

I have the indigo hair preparation. Yours is the indigo dye/colourant. I never realized they were different until soap. ;) The green hair powder will eventually, after several or more applications, turn the hair a blue-black, though.

Jumping off from Zany's 'No Slime Castille' to Bastille varieties

Oh dear! I was gonna ask how they came out. Was it a wood mould with freezer paper, or a silicone mould? Do you know why you are getting sticking? Have you tried leaving them in the mould(s) longer? Buck up, friend. ;) This has been a weird week for soaping for more than a few folks.
