10-2021 - need help bad again...made a batch of soap that looks terrible! I think it has turned into lye-soap. I am thinking I should throw it out. Never happened before.

I think this is laundry soap - ammonia for extra cleaning.

I just bought some glitter. I have a soap mold of 4 medieval knight armors that I want to make shiny. How do I put the glitter on the right side surface. Do I sprinkle it on the mold, or put a lot of glitter in the soap batter?

I have been soaping for years - always used "rain water". Never had a problem. I do live out in an Oklahoma rural area. I can't imagine anything is wrong with it.

If my recipe calls for 175 oz. water, could I use 100 water and 75 vinegar?

What I have friends/relatives tell me, is funny to me. Just Saturday I saw friends that told me they still have the soap I gave them a couple of years ago. It was a "deer" that he only looks at, never uses.

Can I tell you my recipe? Maybe it was the castor oil? I ran it through the soapee lye calculator: avovado .05 - canola 1.5 - castor .05 - c.o. 2.25 - grape seed 1.50 - palm oil 2.25 - rice bran 1.25 - shortening - .05 - steric acid .75 . (11 oz oils) water 4.18 - lye 1.55 HELP ! !

NEW QUESTION: I meant to buy 1 gal of canola oil, but accidentally got 2 gallons instead. I make small batches of cp. (approx 12 -16 oz oil) I used part canola, but not having very good results. One problem is my soap looks like I painted the top with white paint. Not soda ash looking...

A couple years ago I bought a 10 qt. ELECTRIC pressure cooker. I did some canning in it. It was pint jars. I first bought it because I needed that size for hot tamales. I have been using pressure cookers since I got married. I would not be without one.

The copy of that old book was wonderful. On page 64 (with the soap recipe) was how to preserve eggs. Wow, that was interesting ! Any comments about that? :rolleyes:

New question--soapers are talking about using loofah in soap. Where an earth do you buy it? I've never saw it in any soap supply. Any way I don't even know how they are using it (ha-ha) but it sounds good.

My husband can not grow tomatoes. He gets so mad the guys around here get beautiful gardens and only thing he got was sweet potatoes. ha-ha
