    I have heard that adding oris root powder at trace helps to bind the fragrance. I did use it for a while, but never paid attention to how much oil I used....so not sure if it helped or not.

    Hi all, Thanks for passing on the lye calculator. I had copied a few recipes from the internet...plugged them into the calculator, and wow, all of the lye amounts were off by quite a bit!!!! Whats with that??? Now I'm scared to follow these recipes.....is the lye calculator bang on???

    Can Someone help me with a recipe??

    Shortening I just checked in our big food store here, and shortening here is a mixture of soybean and palm. But it doesn't say what percentage is what. How can I calculate the mix??? Or is the SAP value close enough??

    Thanks all for replies Hi, I have made soap with lye before, but its this peticular soap that I'm after, because it was sooooooooo nice!!!! And thanks to the reply about "saponified"......thats exactly how it was worded on the label!!! And I didn't realize that shortening was palm oil!!!!
