    Lotion bar size

Huh, that tin looks shallow for the bee mold. Guess not? I found the ones I like. Turns out they are 4 oz, not 2 oz!

    Lotion bar size

I've been making lotion bars (the bee mold) and salves and just ran out of tins and can't figure out where I got the size! Small, deep tin jar, about 2 1/4" or a little bit bigger, and about 1 1/2" deep. Anybody?? I've looked on Amazon and Uline. Can't find em.

Tattoo Balm - feedback and/or sharing

Lavender oil, especially at the low percentage used in a lotion bar, is not harmful on broken skin. In fact there was a study showing that lavender EO mixed with a carrier oil can speed healing of wounds.

    Zing's Apprentice

You put 3% beeswax in your soaps? I've never done that. What does it do in soap? Of course I use it in my lotion bars and I buy blocks of wax from a co-op of local beekeepers. The wax smells lovely, just like honey!

    Curiosity about lotion bars

When you say 1/3, 1/3, and 1/3, are you talking volume or weight? Seems like they may be different.

    What increases "longevity"?

My soap recipes, when entered into the SoapmakingFriend calculator, often show the longevity property to be lower than 25. Which ingredients improve longevity and hardness of the bar? Which ingredients slow down trace? I've seen a couple of charts that give conflicting info on this... does...

Wanting to learn more about twist-up tubes

For the record, cardboard that is saturated with wax and/or oil is NOT recyclable. Even if it were, would this really help save the planet? Ask the customer if she drove a car to the market.

    Lip Balm Questions…

But the recipe uses mL, which is volume. I always use weight... that's why this confused me.

Hi, Yes, I saw that post but it was one she hadn't tried. It sounds like you have, though @Zing and liked it!

    Lip Balm Questions…

I just saw this recipe and was confused by the use of mL instead of grams for apricot oil/sweet almond oil. Aren't ml and grams the same thing? Makes around 60 x Lip balm tubes or 30 x 10ml tins or 20 x 15ml tins 50g Organic Yellow Beeswax 80g of Organic, unrefined Shea Butter 30g of...

    successful first time lip balm!

Okay, old thread I know, but I just started looking into lotion balm recipes. Zing's link above goes to a potential recipe from IrishLass, but it says she hadn't tried it yet. Did you @IrishLass post your recipe somewhere? I looked around and saw lots of helpful tips (thanks!) but not your...

Shampoo Bar with Pyrithione Zinc recipe?

I have a couple of shampoo and conditioner bar recipes, but I just got these, too. I see the 1.5% for extracts or additives, and yes, that's what I'm going to do. I also like this shampoo recipe, because you pour it into the mold instead of needing to press it, so it's really nice that way...

Shampoo Bar with Pyrithione Zinc recipe?

Yes, I know about this. I am just hoping to create this shampoo bar for my daughter, who uses a shampoo with this ingredient. Thanks!

Shampoo Bar with Pyrithione Zinc recipe?

Yes, I also did that search and found what you found. I subscribe to SCM's blog, but not at a high level. Doing a search there, I haven't seen mention of pyrithione zinc. My plan has been to substitute this ingredient for that proportion of one of the dry surfactants. I was just curious if...
