    Flash points and Fixes

Hello, I've been practicing HP and CP soap making for some time, trying different Eos. Found out that some EOs have a very low Flash Point (like Sweet Orange, and Rosemary), so that they 'flash off' before the soap can possibly cool enough - dealing with hardening soap, in order to try to get...

    Hot process soap

Thanks for your reply KITN, (as there were no others!). I did have time to find out on my own that what you say is correct - in just a few more days, the soap smelled much better. :) I'm so much happier now.

    Hot process soap

Not sure if this is the right location for this question... I've tried two batches of hot process soap. One recipe I got from kebrown's tutorial on u tube. The other is my regular recipe for Cold process, which is an Olive oil, Coconut oil, Castor oil mix, which has always worked well. The...

I won't be rich anytime soon

"I don't know if any soap makers get truly rich selling soap , if they do they are few and far between. I want to sell my soap because I love making soap and believe it is far superior to store bought stuff. I just do what I love and love what I do." I appreciate the above comment and...

    wholesale question

I agree with kaseencook. You should definitely be getting the wine free, or at a very good rate. I've dealt with wholesaling as an artist only. In that case, no agreement was necessary. It is understood in that the gallery, if buying your work and not just consigning it, will double your price...

    types of coconut oils

That's interesting about the melting point. The fractionated type (which i think I ended up with once) was not liquid though... perhaps I'm wrong about what type i received.

    types of coconut oils

Does anyone know which is the preferred type of coconut oil for soap making? There's refined (food safe), fractionated, coconut oil 76 (?!) I have always used coconut oil, but only just recently found out there are all these types! Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hello from Canada

I've been making soap for a few years now but always on my own. My specialty is one particular recipe I got from a 'Harrowsmith Soapmaking' book. It's coconut oil based, which I chose because at the time we lived on a boat on the west coast and I wanted a soap that would lather in salt water...
