Thanks Trix! I'll check them out :) Lindy, I've tried figuring out the VM ware... I think it's a little too far out my realm of comfort and understanding when it comes to computers. So I've decided I'm just gonna go find a cheapie PC. Just for SM3! :)

Thanks Lindy! I will most defiantly ask around the FB group. I had asked one of the IT guys I work with about it - he didn't seem to think it was a goo idea. So I kind of left it alone. I didn't get the computer bug, so I'm very apprehensive installing something like that. I WILL try again! The...

    Canadian suppliers. . . .

Phew! That takes a load off! :) Maybe it's the way I've been calculating the cost of shipping into the equation as well? How I worked it is I took the orders I have made in the past and added the taxes and the shipping then divided by however many items I had that order. The average is around...

Thanks Dahila! Just wondering how much you ordered? Lots of heavy stuff? I know (ish) of a little soap place here in Montreal that sells soap and supplies, but of course I can't remember their name :P I thought there was just that one tho! Thank you, thank you, thank you! :D

Okay, here goes it! My Dead Sea Mud recipe is where my notebook brought me, so I guess I'll use that one as the example. I've done a ton searches - here on the forum and on the web... I don't like asking the same question someone(s) else has asked, I understand irritating repetitive questions, but I'm at a loss. I don't have any local soaping friends, so I come to you! My virtual soaping friends :) Here's the...

    Soap shop in Montreal?

There should be quite a few. Of course I'm brain farting right now, but I'm sure a quick google search will have something you're looking for. Good luck :)

    What creates soda ash?

I found a great link in the cold process board for a way to help if you have ash just in the top if your log mold. But of course I can't find it now! Arianne from La Fille de la Mer did a video of or of her soaps and she just non shalontly (I know, that's not really a word) rinsed her soap under...

    Soap Percentages

My basic base (go to) recipe is almost exactly the same as Susie's! (Off the top of my head) 50% Lard 21% Coconut oil 24% Olive oil 5% Castor oil With a 5 or 6% SF. I usually add kaolin clay and hydrolyzed silk as well. I like to call this one the no frills recipe! :) This one also behaves...

    Homemade custom mold?

I've used cardboard boxs before. The trick that worked well for me is either pieces of wood or Lexan ( I think that's what it's called) with C clamps on either side :) Otherwise you could always try looking online for soap mold templates. Good luck! :)

Is Heat & Hold Necessary For Lotion?

Thanks DeAnne! I didn't even think about the water bath for the oven. Your awesome! :)

Is Heat & Hold Necessary For Lotion?

A question for the members who heat and hold in the oven. How do you do it exactly? Just chuck it in, as is, or put the containers on a baking sheet? I just started making lotions! Totally addicted! :D I've used the stovetop (double boiler) and my crockpot, but the crockpot doesn't get hot...

What does your house smell like right now?

Mmmmm... We came home a little while ago from grocery shopping to a wallop of Christmas! Yay! I made candy cane soap a couple days ago. Yesterday I made Santa farts (lol) with Saffire Blues Christmas song FO and then I made my staple lavender rosemary :) I love Christmas soaping! :D

    Silk? Yes, another silk question...

Thank you Obsidian! That was what I figured, adding to to the lye water. I'm going to try that tonight :)

    Silk? Yes, another silk question...

Hi all! So like the title says, I have a question about silk. Not tussa silk, or whole(?) silk fibers, but the powder like this one: http://www.newdirectionsaromatics.ca/silk-amino-acids-p-555.html I've been all over the internet and forums for info on how to use this in cold process soap...
