Does anyone add Titanium dioxide directly to lye water?

I have mixed TD into lye water before. I don't remember why I did, it worked fine but but seemed messy. I use a 1oz plastic cup to mix my TD in now, add just enough water to make a thick slurry and smash any lumps up with a spoon. I never get specks anymore

    Is this rude?

I do feel that unsolicited advice is generally rude, even if given politely. If someone wants advice they will ask, anymore I don't offer advice unless I see something dangerous. I use FB groups a lot, some are very toxic, some are really good, most fall in the middle. I often skip giving...

Can this be made more moisturizing?

2 is a really low cleansing number, it will be a very mild soap. I'd also suggest leaving out the more expensive oils for now, like the marula and jojoba. Most oils at 5% won't add much, castor is the exception. Get a simple basic recipe down then start experimenting.

Can this be made more moisturizing?

Soap isn't moisturizing, its cleansing. if you want a gentler soap then try lowering the cleansing number. One of my recipes is 60% lard, 10% coconut, 5% castor, 25% sunflower or similiar. I use 3% - 5% superfat, used to use more but it didn't help my dry skin at all. With a recipe designed...

    Daily facial for sensitive skin

For years I just washed with my basic high lard soap but last year I switched to a Cetaphil cleanser. I've used various over the counter shampoos. My favorite by far is T/Sal, I very rarely have flare ups any more. I use loreal revitalift creams in the various forms. Recently started using a...

    Daily facial for sensitive skin

For the most part, my flakes are down to zero. I do still get flakes around my ears at times and of course my scalp acts up if I use the wrong products. Changing to handmade soap has really helped, especially salt soap. I've not tried silver in soap but cor sounds like snake oil

I use rosemary and peppermint EOs neat on my scalp and never have any kind of reactions. Of course I'm just one person but there are others on a hair forum I go to who also use it on the scalp.

Fungus on top my honey and oatmeal soap

Yes, that mold if from the oats. I wouldn't use foods or botanicals on top of soaps in a humid environment. You can cut the toppings off the soaps, just make sure to remove all the oats

    Chocolate soap

This is a wonderful chocolate, strong and sticks well. It also discolors very dark, no need to add color https://www.brambleberry.com/shop-by-product/ingredients/fragrance-oils/dark-rich-chocolate-fragrance-oil/V000169.html

    Soap setting up too fast.

Want to add on about scents. If you are buying soap scent at places like micheals or hibby lobby, those are designed for MP and will act up in CP. Always make sure your FO are made for CP soaps.

    Newton’s Third Law

Yes, hair damage from soap is a real thing. As mentioned, I had to buzz mine to 1/4" after it started breaking off in clumps. Granted it took about 2 year to get to that point, the high PH takes time to break down the cuticle. Some people can use soap with no issue but unfortunately your hair...

How are you offsetting the cost of Olive Oil?

I'd swap out the butters for lard or palm. I use sunflower, safflower or avocado in place of OO, depends on what is available and prices

    batter color - less yellow?

If you are using virgin OO, switch to regular OO. If your using unrefined shea, it can cause yellow too

    Amigurumi

I'm just learning to crochet and have made a couple amigurumi, they don't look very good and I've learned I hate crocheting in the round. I did get yarn to make pop tarts and one of these days I will try a bee or maybe a frog.

Purple cabbage juice, I was experimenting with color change from PH. Made the soap smell like a fart and it never went away🤢
