Glycerin as by-product of soap making

Here in Canada we are supposed to list the natural glycerin that is created from saponification as we are required to list what is in the product when complete rather than what went in when a chemical reaction changes the nature of the ingredients that went in and since glycerin is produced...

    A Cream Soap Tutorial

Castor Oil & Beeswax makes a non-petroleum jelly. You can whip it the next day again. Deanna - Thank you, I didn't know that. Boric acid certainly does not make sense to me. You superfat as well as supercream your cream soap so why would you need to neutralize it? Unless she was...

    A Cream Soap Tutorial

Cream Soap & Liquid Soap are very different animals. You would use Boric Acid to neutralize LS because you're doing it at 0% SF or lower.

    A Cream Soap Tutorial

2 very different ingredients with different properties. I wouldn't sub them for each other. Cream soap is based on stearic acid and from there you choose your oils depending on what properties you want to bring to the soap.

    A Cream Soap Tutorial

I haven't found anything, but then I have tried. Whipped soap is a different product and this was always meant to be more of a creamy style soap.

    A Cream Soap Tutorial

Pretty much but if you add botanicals or dairy products you will need to find a preservative that will work in the high pH.

    Kokum butter in my serum

Kokum has a higher melt point as well plus it has a drier feel than other butters.

    I Made Lotion

With a cream I would also recommend that you look at BMTS - 50 as it is a more conditioning emulsifier and also add 2% stearic acid to get a nice thick cream. I would reduce the water to 60% and up the Emulsifier to 7%. It really depends on thick you want your cream.

    I think I inhaled lye fumes ... do I need hospital ?

I fourth or whatever the no lye fumes at that point. When you mix your lye you will see steam coming off the mixture, that contains the lye fumes.

    Liquid Soap Preservative UK

According to a Safety Assessor (Scott of Cosmetic Safety Assessment) you don't need a preservative for any soap product because the pH is too high to make a friendly environment to mold or bacteria. Yes bacteria lives everywhere, including on us, but the bad type in our products does not live...

LOL -yup but they can't seem to see that. They could make the same soap if they had a mind to. Mind being the most important part of that sentence. :lolno:

    A Cream Soap Tutorial

Just a quick note on Deeanna posts. Although you can whip this soap it does not have the structure to hold that whip and will quickly flatten back down. I do "whip" mine with a dough hook prior to putting it to bed if I am doing a small batch. If I am doing a large one then I use a paint...

Is Heat & Hold Necessary For Lotion?

SwiftCraftyMonkey (Susan Barclay-Nichols) does not recommend using the microwave to melt your ingredients but rather to do it stove-top. Once it's melted you can go into the oven.

    Deer tallow

I think it depends on your State as to the regulations. Here in Canada Deer Skin is sold in stores as is Reindeer, Bison & a few others..... It is also not on our Hot List for prohibited ingredients.

    Home Shows

I do them at someone else's. The hostess gifts a small gift basket and then a discount depending on how much the sales are.
