    Surprisingly wonderful homemade mold results!

Reinbeau, I used Amazing Putty for the mold, then pressed the sage leaves into the putty, used a block of wood to push up the sides, let the putty cure, then took off the wood and the leaf, and voila!

    Surprisingly wonderful homemade mold results!

Thanks, everybody! I'm very pleased :) It wasn't hard at all to make the mold, surprisingly. I got some Amazing Putty from a craft store, then used a block of wood to shape it into a rectangle and also to press the leaves into the putty.

    Surprisingly wonderful homemade mold results!

So, a little while back I made a couple of molds using sage leaves to make the imprints. My intended use was (and still is) to make a stamp for product bags. Yesterday, I was making a batch of soap that always has a little extra batter that comes over the top of my mold, so I decided just to...

    Focaccia

Looks delicious! The next time I feel like making bread, I'll have to try this recipe :)

    Peppermint/Rosemary

We know Ephrata quite well, actually! We take several trips to Soap Lake during the summers.

    Peppermint/Rosemary

Looks like a great first batch! Like others said, looks nice and creamy too :) Where in WA are you? I'm in Edmonds. Welcome another Pacific Northwesterner :)

I got 117 USD for one soap!!!

That's an awesome story...in every way. :) It's nice when you see the benefits of your products in someone else's life! That's also a great idea to use the fondant mats in Pringles cans. Now I'm gonna be online all morning looking for the perfect pattern instead of making soap ;)

    Not in my face scrub

Had this article saved and finally got around to reading it. I also saw this article today: http://www.npr.org/2014/05/21/313157701/why-those-tiny-microbeads-in-soap-may-pose-problem-for-great-lakes I guess I didn't realize that microbeads meant plastic...I have been boxed up in my hippy...

The boat that guy built (making soap).

Thanks for those EOs pics, Relle I went back and watched that part again last night...I could understand it then :) I think Guy might mumble and talk fast which makes it harder to catch the first time! I don't usually have too much trouble understanding accents, but I definitely have more of an...

The boat that guy built (making soap).

Ok, that makes sense. I missed any mention about bergamot on the show :/ I missed bits here and there because of their strong accents...my ear just isn't used to it. Oops.

The boat that guy built (making soap).

That was pretty awesome. Looks like those of us in the US can watch it on YouTube :) I like how he used the whole loaf to shower with! Did anybody catch which essential oils he used? I thought he picked sandalwood and something else, but then they called it earl grey. My favorite quote was...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Made two batches of Lavender Oat swirl. Got a small order of supplies in the mail! Congrats on your first batch :)

    Shape of Bar

I think the shape of the bar matters less than the uniqueness of the ingredient and scent combos. If you want to set yourself apart as far as shape goes, you'll have to get very original. (Oops, i accidentally hit send before I was done.) I'm just north of Seattle, so not that far from where...

    Raspberry seed oil

I haven't used raspberry seed oil for anything yet, but Lotioncrafter carries it. I buy my blueberry seed oil from them when I need it. Not sure how their prices for raspberry seed oil stack up to the others, but here's the link: http://www.lotioncrafter.com/red-raspberry-seed-oil.html

    Piping Rock EOs

I bought a few EOs from there about a month ago, after wondering about the quality and price myself. They seem to be pretty good. If you're specifically looking for 0.5 oz bottles, it seems to be great. I would just cross-reference with other sites to make sure you're getting the best price...

    A Couple of Cut Batches!

Made a batch with charcoal for the first time last week. The swirls turned out great, which I'm really excited about. The texturing on the top is a bit rough, because I covered my mold with freezer paper (I've been having issues with ashing and didn't want to risk it). It's scented with...
