You know you're a crazy soap person when...

When my son refers to ice cube trays as "ice molds"...and they're not even silicone!

    Lebermuth

Sounds like an exciting visit! Thanks for the update and info!

You know you're a crazy soap person when...

When you catch a glimpse of a blob of spilled melted ice cream cake (chocolate and vanilla) and take a second look to see if it made a swirl worth duplicating :)

    Latest Batch

The yellow batch looks so nice and creamy, and the blue swirls look fabulous! I also enjoyed that story, navigator :)

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately, I probably won't be taking a vacation that direction any time soon. I definitely want to check them out next time I'm back home visiting, though.

    Dealing with Glass Advocates

I've been following this thread and I'm going to post once...only once, and may post a reply if I feel like it and/or if I feel the response to my comment is entirely free of hostility. Ok, here goes... :) I've been using the same glass mixing bowl for my lye mixture for four years (at least)...

    Quick lye Q

I use disposable paper cups for measuring out my dry lye as well. I've been doing it that way for about four years and never had any problems. The leftover bits of lye tend to liquefy (not sure what that's called) so it's easier just to toss the cups.

Lavender layers and a new mold

Those look beautiful! I really like those particular colors and the gradation of them.

    Variation on the Secret Feather

They also look like whale tales or a family of bats :) If you can reproduce it, use green as your color, and turn it upside it would make a lovely Christmas tree :)

    Seized salt bar fiasco soap!

    Psh...those look gorgeous!

What have you read and what are you reading?

Ooh, I have a weakness for cookbooks too...but, also like Jencat, I end up looking online for recipes and don't bother looking through my piles of books :)

What have you read and what are you reading?

I figured out one of the reasons why I don't usually read fiction: I can't put the darn book down! I picked up a random read at a thrift store last week and finished it in 6 days (that's quick for me these days). It was called "A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian." Not even half as dull as...

What soapy thing have you done today?

    I read that: "3CPO." I know...Star Wars nerd :)

    What Is This?

I live in a pretty moderate climate (Seattle area) and this winter we had some below-freezing temps. During that time and a while afterward, I saw olive oil in stores getting solid pieces in the bottom. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the solid pieces will stick around...

    Lebermuth

I just discovered them recently, but haven't ordered anything from them yet. I grew up about 45 minutes from South Bend and will definitely pay them a visit next time I'm home.
