Shave soap; stearic acid and pine tar

Ok I spent the several days reading the mega thread on shave soap and several sites about the subject. So yes, I went there, down the stearic acid rabbit hole and did some web searching. I found a source for Hystrene 5016 (Hysteron 5016) which according to the hysteron 5016 data sheet is 100%...

    Gentle bar hardener

I use sodium lactate in my lotion as well as my soap and, for me, it doesn't sting open cuts.

    HP Tips

I should add that my oven temp is 180F and soap cooks for 45 minutes.

    HP Tips

I make a pretty fluid HP. I use my oven, not crock-pot but its pretty much the same process. What I do is this: -I use the full amount of water recommended for my lye water- 6 oz for 1 pd. of soap and 12 oz for 2 pounds of soap. -After the cook I add in 1 additional ounce of liquid per pound...

    Soap Weight

Ok, thanks. Haven't sold since 2005 and I'm getting ready to sell a special order to a co-worker. Though I'm not really getting back into the selling game, I still want to label everything properly.

    Soap Weight

Is it ok to put the soap weight on the back ingredient label, or is it required to go on the front label for USA?

Floral FO for someone who doesn’t like florals

I asked something similar not too long ago. One recommended to me is Daisy Chain. Several suppliers carry it. I have BBs version; light not too floral. Haven't soaped with it yet.

    Blend ratios and percentages

Thanks for your alls help. It gives me a starting point. Yes I'm using all three in the blend. I've used all of them several years ago but never all together. From some reading I've done all three do play nicely together.

    Blend ratios and percentages

I got my lavender (french) and rose geranium this week. The frankencense I've had. Can y'all all help me with the ratios of the three for a blend? This is for my facial creme and for me only. I was thinking of 1% of the EO blend for my creme recipe. Is that in the right ballpark or can I...

Hot process questions for the soap pros!

Interesting that your soap was still liquid after several hours. With mine, full liquid with lye water, .5 oz sodium lactate ppo after cook and 1 oz extra liquid ppo after cook (either goat milk or coconut milk), my soap is solid within a couple of hours and I can unmold with success. I use...

Hot process questions for the soap pros!

To make my OHP soap more fluid this is what I do. I add .5 oz of sodium lactate ppo to my soap after it has finished its cook and come out of the oven. I also add 1 extra ounce of liquid ppo to my soap after the cook along with the sodium lactate. I use full water amount along with the lye...

    Myrrh/Sandalwood?

Oh yes I remember a Garden Eastward. Loved them. Thanks for sharing the chart. Geranium and lavender are a little easier on my pocketbook. That's a good thought about blending a sandalwood FO with the other two EOs; hadn't considered that.

An electric screwdriver. My hands were getting tired screwing in the hardware for roller shades.

    Products for the older generation

My mom, who's in her eighties, always wants lotion from me, the "thicker the better" as she puts it. She doesn't like lotion bars for herself because she has grip strength issues and bars just squirt out of her hands. I'm going to follow this thread also; it's interesting to see what...

    Hello from coastal Virginia

ES can be lovely but for the last several weeks we've been covered with a fine sheen of pollen. Even my grey cat gets covered with pollen if he sleeps in the open window. You're soaps look lovely; you're way more adventurous than I've ever been with soap.

    Induction top HP temp?

I OHP and over the years I've done as high as 200F. For the last several years, I cook at 180F. Once my soap is in the oven, I don't touch it until cook is done. With my current soap formula that's about 45 minutes. I'll stir the soap after it comes out of the oven to break up the surface to...

    Myrrh/Sandalwood?

I've discovered my face likes my current body lotion. But I don't like using FOs on my face. I'd like to come up with a simple EO blend for my face. I haven't used EOs in a good 15 years or more. So far I know I want to use frankincense and neroli. I'm having a tough time settling on my...
