    storing cured soaps in plastic?

I've been keeping my soaps in shoe boxes til I'm ready to give/use them. I've seen so many videos and articles suggesting wrapping them in plastic to extend their shelf life!...confused :? :!: I'm assuming after they're cured and I want to give them away in say a couple of weeks it'd be...

    Slippery when wet

.Perfect for Soapmaking, That's amazing because I've had sooooo many doubtful responses to using my soaps because of the caustic soda!! There was a wonderful program on a natural business and their success..the owner was asked if he used lye in his products he laughingly responded that there...

    Slippery when wet

BRAVO!! I can see I need to actually learn alot more about soap in general!! Do these 'forms' of the oils help preserve their shelf life why they just don't use straight forward oils? Or just cheaper?

    lotion bar

Is anyone still there?!? I've made soap but never a lotion bar...sounds wonderful. Do you just melt your oils/butters on the stove and pour it into a mold like the soap ? then cut.....

    What molds are you using?

about the chocolate box inserts...there are some awfully flimsy ones that probably wouldn't hold up but the nicer ones do have sturdierer inserts.... they fall into the one off category though....you can always just use one part of the insert as an experiment and make sure you have it on a tray...

    What molds are you using?

I was dying for a proper wooden mold (not in my budget at all!!!)when I went to a craft store that sells all sorts of wooden boxes and I found for 4.99 euros a long rectangular wooden box with several removable dividers!! If I leave the center divider in , each side of the mold makes ten regular...

Hang in there!! My husband and daughter weren't my favourable critics by any means but now hubby is quick to tell me which one he DOES like! and my daughter loves a plain lard with oatmeal bar with a dash of honey! She claims she's washing her hands with cream but loves it now. And it's taken...

    does everyone stick blend?

ok...been out of the country too long...are there different types of Crisco? I'd use a blend of oils but thought there was only ONE kind of Crisco! also to Seifenblasen I was under the impression if you use Castor oil it's best to use it as a support for your existing oils and not as a main...

ladies, a question on blending...I live overseas and am visiting my mother in Calif. and am dying to try soaping with good ol Crisco I'm sure I can borrow a scale from someone and but the thought of actually buying a stick blender seems silly. Now how long do you think it'd take the soap to...

    do embeds need to cure?

ooh! forgot to ask! is it alright to use 'regular' soap embeds in salt soap? i have a recipe with 70% cc, 10% castor and 20% grapeseed that I'd like to try to use embeds in. What do you think? Do I need to do anything special like spraying with alcohol if I'm using shaped embeds? Do you simply...
