What do you buy in Bulk?

I want to start buying in bulk since store prices keep climbing. Can you list where you buy your bulk oils, and also which oils are better in bulk? Maybe talk about shelf life if you know how long they last? Thanks, guys!

    CPOP in Silicone? 200 degrees?

Yeah, I knew that 170-180 was like the magic range. I tried turning the knob just below 200, so maybe that helped. Either way, it worked! It's cool to have the look of CP with the quickness of HP.

    PKO and CO soap?

Are you talking about overheating in the mold, or in the oven? If you are doing HP (like, you cook the soap batter in a crockpot or stovetop), then I don't know how you have overheating in the mold. If you are doing CP then tossing it in the oven in the mold, then that makes sense. Lower the...

    PKO and CO soap?

I never had any issues with overheating on any of my soaps despite the ingredients. Soap cool and you should be able to avoid it. Stay away from anything with a high sugar content (honey especially) if you are worried about overheating. If PKO is similar to CO, would a PKO and CO bar be so...

    Goaty smelling milk ?

Yeah, no worries about it in finished soap. Try craigslist or something for local GM. My GM only smells "goaty" after it's been in the fridge for a few days. When it's milked fresh, there is no smell at all. I freeze mine so that I can still soap in the winter when the goats aren't milking...

    PKO and CO soap?

I went to a few outdoor markets this weekend and noticed a similarity between two of the handmade soaps from the vendors. Both soaps only used PKO and Coconut oil for their oils! They added some other things like powders and other additives, yet they only listed those two oils. Has anyone...

    CPOP in Silicone? 200 degrees?

Well it definitely did not overheat or explode! My only issue is that the top of the soap looks kinda foamy. I will probably just shave it off, though. I prefer regular CP for texture, but this method for quickness.

    CPOP in Silicone? 200 degrees?

Got some cute Halloween molds yesterday, and now I want to use them before the Holiday is over! Can I CPOP in silicone molds? I don't see why not, but it's better to ask than totally screw something up. Also, my oven's lowest temp is 200. Should I leave it in at 200 for less than an hour...

    Soap Volcanoes are NOT fun!

No, the scent did not come through. It's OK, though, because I had a "Buttercream Pie" fragrance so it still smells and looks like pie. I just used plain old store bought PB. Didn't want to spend a lot of cash on something that might flop anyway. So far I love the feel of the soap. I just...

    Soap Volcanoes are NOT fun!

I couldn't tell ya, to be honest. I eyeballed a "glob" and mixed it in at trace. I'm really liking the soap so far. It's only a few hours old but I already like the feel of it. Too bad there are so many people with peanut allergies or else it'd be my staple Christmas gift for this year.

    Soap Volcanoes are NOT fun!

I was HPing a peanut butter soap today. Thought I'd try something new by adding the PB to my buttercream pie scented soap. In theory, that's great. In reality, it burns. I got the soap to trace, then turned on the heat to very low and stepped away for a few minutes. Walked back out into the...

what are your fave ratios for OO, CO, PO and castor

I think I'm sensitive to CO because I find most soap to be drying. I keep mine at 20%.

    Burnt Milk Smell Fix?

I tried a new HP technique yesterday, and so far so good. No burnt smell at all. Don't want to share it yet in case the soap misbehaves :) Now if only I could find this stinky soap a home....

Stupid mistakes and bone headed thinking.

Mine was not realizing exactly how much oil is needed. I ordered 7oz of palm oil, thinking it would get me far. Used it up in one batch, and the darn thing cost me like $15 with shipping. I learned then that the liquid portion of soap is not nearly as much as I thought it was!

    Burnt Milk Smell Fix?

Originally it was Honeysuckle that had a hint of the burnt smell. Cured it about 2 months in hopes that it would disappear. Rebatched it 2 weeks ago with Cranberry (which I knew did well with rebatches) and though it smells a lot like Cranberry, I still smell the burn. I've learned that goat...

    Burnt Milk Smell Fix?

I HP'ed a batch of soap that apparently got too hot, because it smells like burnt milk. I rebatched it and added more fragrance, but the smell lingers. It's nice soap, just stinky. Are there any FOs out there that will cover this smell up? My cranberry and honeysuckle did not do the trick.

Help Please! Messed up my Grandma's Soap recipe

Since you know exactly what you forgot, rebatch. If it was lye heavy and you didn't know what happened, then just trash it. Rebatch it ASAP and you won't need to add much more liquid, and it'll be easier to melt down.

    Sweating in the mould

My soap always sweats a little when I take it out of the freezer. Give it a few hours and it should all absorb back in. I never had to blot. Good luck!

    my rebatch looks so gross..

I re-batched the same soap 3...yes, 3 times! It was the first soap to sell out at the farmer's market!

    Goat Milk Candles?

Hello! I have a small dairy goat farm and have been making goat milk soap for awhile now. I heard that it is possible to make candles with added goat milk. It sounds strange, but also very cool! Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or links that they use? I tried googling but I don't always...
