    Oil Properties for Body Butter

This stuff is driving me nuts! I opened the jars to check their consistency and they all have these little round circles in them. I know it's not mold because the product is only 3 days old, and they melt right into your skin. I don't think it's the grainy texture from Shea because I've used...

    Oil Properties for Body Butter

I stick blended. Next time I'll use the hand mixer. I used all the oils I had minus the Pumpkin Seed. The color is so dark that I didn't want to make a brown butter. I also added Stearic (about 1%), cyclomethicone (I think 2%), E-wax, goat milk, water, and phenonip. Also, I realized just how...

    Oil Properties for Body Butter

It has firmed up quite a bit since the temps here fell. It is now much more like a balm. It's hard at room temp, but melts nicely into the skin. Win?

Pumpkin soap wedding favors, make it or buy it?

If you're making 10lbs, that should be roughly 4 oz of fragrance. I don't know where you looked, but most 4 oz fragrances are under $8. Most of the ones I buy are around $6, and shipping is about $5. Try Ebay if the soap websites are too expensive. My favorite supplier is on Ebay and I've never...

    Oil Properties for Body Butter

Judy, don't tempt me! ;) I just used it today, roughly 24 hours after it was first made. BIG DIFFERENCE in a good way! I have no idea why it looks the way it does, though. My lotion is made with about 12% butter/oil, same amount of stearic, and it looks so white and creamy and always has. This...

Ditto on the Phenonip. Works great for milk lotions.

Does anyone here do HP soap?

I remember how ugly my soaps were when I started selling. Yikes! I started too soon, and even though they were safe, they looked like poop compared to my product now. It's night and day. Time will make a better product, and will make you more money.

    Do you have a preservative?

Does anyone here do HP soap?

You're planning to sell that quickly? Eeek. Don't make the mistakes many before have made. Give yourself ample time and practice before you sell, about a year or so.

    Oil Properties for Body Butter

Meh. It's actually very greasy and needed a lot more e-wax than normal. I did just 15% milk/water, 15% (to start) of e-wax, phenonip, cyclo, SA and fragrance combined, and 70% butters & oils with 50% of that being hard butters. I think for someone who had serious cracking or flaking, it'd be...

Help me problem solve this issue

It is overheating. Make regular CP or HP and you shouldn't have that issue. CPOP doesn't really make it ready "right away". It still needs to cure.

I made it....let's see how it turns out over the next few days. Will report back with findings!

Does anyone here do HP soap?

I agree with Marilyna. Selling soap isn't as easy as, "I made my first batch! Now I'm going to sell it!" If you want to raise money for this poor woman, please consider other options (yard sales, auctions, dinners, etc). The last thing you want to do is sell a bad product that may potentially...

    Oil Properties for Body Butter

I think I may try it, just for the heck of it. I mean, there's nothing bad about using all, except for the cost. I do love those more expensive oils....;)

    Soaps for sale for 2.50

Exactly. That is what my "uglies" are. Perfectly safe and good bars of soap, but for one reason or another, not good enough for full price. For my own use, I'd prefer to buy a discounted "ugly" vs a perfect bar.

    Soaps for sale for 2.50

Ever think that maybe it stinks? Maybe her lavender didn't set up right in the soap and it's either ugly, or smells funny. I discount my "uglies" just to get them gone.

    Oil Properties for Body Butter

I've done well so far with soaps and lotions, and want to expand to emulsified body butters. Presently I use the same soap recipe, and 2 lotion recipes that I like very much. For a BB, though, I'm overwhelmed with the possibilities and want to get it "right" without wasting too much product. Out...

    CocoNOT

Nope...skin contact is a major trigger for some.

I think that by adding the almond, you just made it appeal to fewer people than before. Few are sensitive to coconut, LOTS are allergic to nuts.

    Dried flowers for scent

Never in any of mine. I've done brewed (3x strength) with a few tsp added fresh grounds and nothing.
