    White snow flurries??

Thanks DeeAnna. I'm unsure on why I didn't need to neutralise, I was following everything that I had read. Also, my mistake lol, I thought the whole neutralising solution had to be added – how much was supposed to be added? ....I think I won't add it next time though....I just hope it's...

Liquid soap dilution ...please help Hey guys! :) I attempted my first liquid soap today and after plenty of research prior to giving it a go, I'm still unsure if what I've done is right :-? If anyone can give me any help, I'd greatly greatly appreciate it  recipe: 18oz...

    Ghost Swirl Water/Lye Amount??

Thank you very much! I really appreciate that. Also, does it matter that the two portions of water (5.48oz + 2.99oz) doesn't equal the original 11.2oz of water?

    Ghost Swirl Water/Lye Amount??

Hey guys :) I'm wanting to try the ghost swirl technique but I'm a little confused on altering my recipe. My recipe is: 10.2oz. Olive Oil 6.8oz. Coconut Oil 8.5oz. Palm Oil 8.5oz. Canola (Rapeseed) Oil 4.7oz. Sodium Hydroxide Lye 11.2oz. Distilled Water I know how to divide my oils into 2 or...

    Yellow Streaks In Soap??

How could I counter this? .....perhaps use mint fragrance oil for just the green soap batter, and chocolate for the brown soap batter?

    Yellow Streaks In Soap??

Hey guys! I made some chocolate and mint soaps (that smell out of this world! 8) ), however, there's some weird looking yellow streaks in my soap. Recipe: • 3.3 oz. Sweet Almond Oil • 3.3 oz. Canola Oil • 1 oz. Castor Oil • 6.6 oz. Coconut Oil • 12.2 oz Olive Oil • 6.6 oz. Palm Oil...

To gel or not to gel?

Wow! You've really gone above and beyond to help me. Thank you so much :-D Also, I haven't used micas yet. I'm currently using iron oxide pigments. Do you think that the same colour vibrancy can be achieved from using iron oxide pigments? (depending on how much is added?) ...or is only micas...

To gel or not to gel?

Hi again, Teresa :) I'm having a bit of trouble with getting the right colour for my soap. Then I thought of that really nice-looking soap that you made and posted, and how the colours really stood out. I'm just wondering, what do you use? Oxide pigments? Micas? ...Do you mix any colorants to...

Is it the FO or recipe oils??

Ok. How much time do I have? ....I poured my soap into the mould at 13:00 today, so when is best to see if it has or hasn't come together?

Is it the FO or recipe oils??

So today I made some soap. I poured my soap batter at very thin trace into two separate beakers, coloured one green, and the other white. I distributed the FO evenly between the beakers. The FO seized my green soap batter whilst separated from my white soap batter. Is it the FO that is bad, or...

What is this on my soap?!

Does anyone know what this is?...... Is it harmful and can it be cleaned off?

    White spots in my soap

Thanks guys! :-D That's a relief that it's just the salt (which has given me an idea for like a starry night soap to make in the future) And yeah, I used extra water. Would it be better to use sweet almond oil for my colorants instead? (then at least there's moisturising oil left in my soap...

    White spots in my soap

Yep. I posted it in my first post ....but after coming across another post about white spots in soap, it got me worrying about mine. Ingredients • 4.9 oz. Avocado Oil • 8.2 oz. Canola Oil • 9.9 oz. Coconut Oil • 8.2 oz. Palm Oil • 1.6 oz. Shea Butter • 4.6 oz. Sodium Hydroxide • 10.8 oz...

To gel or not to gel?

Thanks for the replies, people :) I've made two batches so far and have tried to avoid gelling, but only ended up with a partial gel. I'll gel my next batch and see how things go. From what you guys have said, gelling seems the way forward. I'll try both and though and see what works for me...
