    Recommended Suppliers for the UK

Mmmm. Never used a blade like that. I've used a knife and I always get drag marks. I usually use a wire. What's best do you think?

    Recommended Suppliers for the UK

Any one know of a soap cutter in uk to buy? Not enough money to spend on most of the ones on line, £60 plus seems a lot to me for a bit of wood, don't mind a single cheese slicer type one, but the one I have is too flimsy and the wire is always coming loose. Thanks.

I had some different seaweed given to me. I dried it in a low oven for 4 hours until dry then blended it to a powder. I add it to my soap batter. Here is a pic of the raw stuff

    Using old oil for soap

After thinking about why I make my soap in the first place - nice oils on my skin, no baddies ect, I've realised my question about used oils in my soap is not a good idea!! However , I have learned a lot on the comment and links above, about the chemistry of soap making. So thank you all!!

    Using old oil for soap

Thanks for the link, very interesting. I like the thought of "nice" oils in my soap too, but also know there are lots of people out there who like the thought of re-cycling and "green" usage. Maybe also have used coffee grounds in the soap for gardeners soap?

    Using old oil for soap

Has anyone used old oil to make soap? Re-cycling is the big thing in the UK, and I could get an unlimited supply of used palm oil. But what would the soap be like? Would it have a smell? Would it react with the lye the same? Different SAP value? Anyone have any experience in this? Perhaps...

I usually use Eo s for soap and such, but want to try some FO,s . I've tried some in the past from several suppliers and some smell is cheap and nasty. I don't mind paying a bit more for something joe Malone, (if you get my meaning). Any suggestions as I've got a draw full of FO,s that I...

    Another handmade soap business venture?

The trouble is, that in the Eu you have to fork out a lot of money before you can start selling, so it,s really difficult to"test the market" first. I would love to sell the soaps I make, but I think the only businesses that make money out of soap, are the ones that sell oils, fragrences and...

    Selling soap making software?

Well it sounds a lot like soap calc, but with the added feature of working out your mould sizes. One idea might be to enter the cost of the raw materials, and it could work out the cost per bar? I would definitely like that!!
