Milder Sap value for coconut oil

Okay, either I am being very dim here or there is a huge difference between the soapcalc and ozcalc lye calculators. Yes, I know ozcalc uses a lower sap value for Coconut oil, but 22g difference in weight? I must have made a mistake but I don't know where:confused: Does anyone routinely use...

100% coconut oil soap cure time

I made a 100% coconut oil soap at 20% SF about 7 months ago. Quite early on I dismissed it as far too drying for me and left it alone. I just tried a bar today and it feels fantastic. So, my question is, does anyone else feel this soap recipe needs a REALLY long cure to get milder? I gave...

    Clays for colour

A while ago I purchased clays for colouring my cp soap. The description was vague and I had assumed that they were the natural clays I have seen on BB etc. What I got was 9 packs of kaolin which were coloured with oxides. Am I right in thinking that the Brazilian, French, Moroccan etc clays...

    CP Soap droplets, please help!

Unfortunately, this was always intended to be a second income so I do have to get some sold at some point. As my Dad says though, the family has never been so clean and I have at least a year or two's worth of soap in reserve!:D

    CP Soap droplets, please help!

Hi Susie No, I am not offended in the slightest, after all I did not give any proper indication of my experience so far and I am very aware of the responsibility entailed in taking a highly caustic substance and fashioning it into something the general public will rub on their skin! It is good...

    CP Soap droplets, please help!

Okay, perhaps I should clarify: I do consider myself relatively new but I have been making soap constantly for almost 10 months. In that time I have devised/ tweaked around 20 recipes and let each one cure for a good 8-12 weeks, checking it throughout. I have approached it scientifically...

    CP Soap droplets, please help!

Good evening The Efficacious Gentleman Sorry, I have not been back for a while. There was the merest hint of ash, nothing more. It is wonderfully conditioning, but now I am a bit concerned that I have sacrificed the suds. For some reason it seemed more bubbly at first than it does now- weird:?

    CP Soap droplets, please help!

Thanks everyone for your help. I have given it some time, the drops re-absorbed and I now believe it is my best soap recipe ever ( even though it is still very young). I'm so glad I didn't chuck it out!
