    Question on impulse sealers

I am looking to purchase an inexpensive impulse sealer to help with packaging my soap. I am using Shrink wrap. I am not sure what I should be looking for in one. If you have any suggestions, or tips, I would be grateful. TIA

    Still not completely understanding superfatting

I understand the basic idea of superfatting. My question is this.... when using soap calc, and putting in the superfatting amount, is the oil amount calculated in what is printed out? Do I "hold" some of the oil back when starting the mixture, or is the superfat amount and additional amount not...

    Eczema soap recipe

I feel like I walked into a firing squad here. I honestly was just looking for something soothing and moisturizing. I'm not sure where everyone got the idea I was out to make a super soap, or that I don't let it cure long enough. I do ask about allergies... I apparently hit a nerve though. I...

    Ash on soap

Thank you for the compliment. The green is actually just Part of the color. I made the log with a swirl technique, and had some colored batter left that I just added to another bar mold to use it up. This is what the rest of the soaps looked like, (before treating the ash)

    Ash on soap

Do you add this to every recipe you make?

    New To Soaping

You had a question about cleaning. I have a 5 gallon bucket and a few smaller ones that I fill with water and a little Dawn. Then all my soaping dishes, spoons, etc...go in there to soak. I let it sit for a few days to make sure the lye is no longer active. Then just normal washing from there...

    Bath Flakes

A friend of mine asked if I have ever made Bath Flakes. To be honest, I have never heard of them. I did a little looking into the subject (the tip of the iceberg I'm sure) and have to say I am still a little confused. I know they relate to Magnesium.... if anyone knows of a tutorial or a recipe...

    More working time

Yes, my work space isn't especially warm, and mine sets up fast also.

    Ash on soap

I have not experienced it much. I originally put a couple bars in a clear shoe box with a glass of just boiled water. It's didn't do as well.

    Ash on soap

I recently posted a thread about how to remove the ash on soap. Had a couple replies, and I tried both ways. I waited to try my way last... (one I read about). I wanted to try the clothes steamer method. I didn't have to buy a steamer though, as I already own one. Here are the before and after pics.

Curious if anyone has tried this

Thank you for the informative reply. I guess I will keep doing it the way I have been.

Curious if anyone has tried this

I am somewhat of an inpatient soaper. I get excited to see the results. I have often wondered if there was a faster way to cure soaps. I stumbled on this, and thought I would see if anyone else has tried this.. http://morganstreetsoap.blogspot.com/2009/01/you-did-what.html

Thank you kindly. I actually bought some suspension base today before I saw this post. I will go check out the video now. :)

What soapy thing have you done today?

I love making the soaps, but like you, I can't say that I enjoy the clean up.

    Where do you soap?

I also soap in the kitchen. I line my workspace with freezer paper, and I have a couple big empty buckets to soak all my soaping dishes. I don't want all the soap going down my drain. The paper makes cleanup easier... and I make sure to keep my soaping dishes, pans and utensils stored separately.

    More working time

Thanks... what a great idea. I have done a lot of reading and researching too. The look i want comes from the soaps being cooler when poured, but by then, they always have a skin on them and my swirls never look right. B ut if they are hotter, they all run together. Sounds like you may be ready...

Another question about ask on soap

Thanks! I usually do not have smooth tops. Luckily, I own a steamer already.

    Cold Process Question

Do you use this recipe for more time to design soap ... swirling or soap painting?
