I am sorry if this is a stupid question, but how does a person work a recipe backwards to figure out how much oil they were short?

I have a batch of soap that is lye heavy. How do I know how much oil to add with a rebatch? Are there any tricks to rebatching, other than shredding and melting?

Well that is an excellent question, because I have the soapcalc numbers printed out, and somehow I transferred them to paper incorrectly. So, mystery solved about the brittleness, but now my question is, where do you learn about rebatching with extra oils?

Oils above are correct. It was definitely closest to Parm. I typically make soap with a larger quantity of olive oil and soft oils, so I am used to being able to wait 4 or 5+ days to cut bars. Maybe it was just too hard.

I have 2 questions about scenting HP soap with anise. First, is it a scent that will stick all by itself? And secondly, am I better off to use anise EO, or is crushing the entire star anise and making an oil infusion better/equally good? Does any one have experience with this? Thanks!

I remember now reading that goats milk soap can get too hot and crack, but unfortunately I forgot that and tucked mine in tightly. If it looks like this in the mold, does that mean it’s going to be brittle when I cut it?

Hemisphere Soap I used a Pringles can for a soap mold (one of my favorite molds), and it was just a fluke that the top bar has this cool round top. It is the perfect shape for washing your armpits! I wish I could make tons of them!
