Can someone identify these dried flowers?

I see. So are oil infusions better for leave on type products?

Can someone identify these dried flowers?

So if I'm making oil infusions for scent only....olive oil with little vitamin E....as long as it smells good, I it Don't matter if the flowers are mixed? I would strain it before using it in soap.

Can someone identify these dried flowers?

Before I got into soaping, I painted and I created mixed media projects. I would buy art and crafts supplies from people on Craigs list. I'd get big "lots". A lot of times I would really want half the stuff and I'd end up with a lot of extra stuff that I just put on a shelf. I always ended up...

    Fragrance oil vs Essential oil

Taking a poll.... Out of you professional soapers who make and sell on a regular basis.... Which of you consistently use fragrance oils and which use essential oils? Or both? I don't think I can afford essential oils. Or maybe not to put in every batch. Does it make a big difference to use...

Can someone identify these dried flowers?

Can someone identify these dried flowers? I forget what they are. I'm going to be infusing oils tonight with some herbs I've been saving for this purpose....some lavender, mint, Rosemary, etc. I was looking through my stuff and I found these dried flowers. I forget what they are. Can...

My goats milk soap is too soft

I did. And I made these changes last night. Changed SF to 3% Used 33% lye concentration. Put tussah silk and citric acid in water and everything else went into oils. I really liked having that extra time to mix the ingredients. I use to rush after adding lye water, trying to hurry up and mix the...

My goats milk soap is too soft

I have struggled to figure out the right amount of tussah silk to add. I might not be using enough. I was afraid of using too much. Ive heard that a pea sized pinch is good....is that per batch or PPO? any idea how to judge?

My goats milk soap is too soft

Thank you! I don't use 1 tbsp PPO. I usually make batches that are about 1000 grams. To that I usually put about 1 tbsp, total. I eyeball it. I do usually mix TD with water first and mix with mini mixer. My mini mixer broke last weekend! I ordered another, can't believe how much I depend on...

My goats milk soap is too soft

I have a tendency to go overboard. This is more or less what I've been trying lately: 25% olive 25% coconut 20% lard or tallow or palm 15% shea or cocoa butter 10% almond or avocado 5% castor I think I am going to try adding additives to my oils instead of trace. That way I can dump in my lye...

My goats milk soap is too soft

Thanks everyone for the advice. How do I calculate the extra superfat of milk? Also, i really struggle with trying to pour before the soap seizes. Either the soap is too soft or I modify the recipe to make it harder and I end up with peanut butter trying to scrape it out of the bowl. I'm...

My goats milk soap is too soft

My goats milk soap is great, but too soft and melting too fast. I took some sample bars to work and gave them away to my friends. Im not ready to sell anything yet. Still working on recipes. So, I gave away soap for feedback. And I'm getting positive reviews on my oatmeal honey goats milk soap...

    Organizing additives

For items that are not in baggies but could be hung, use push pin/binder clips. I wish I had more shelving! I'm not just into soap making, but candle making, mixed media, crafts, oil painting....the biggest room in my house is my studio and I love it! I enjoy organizing just as much...

    Organizing additives

I had this box of little packets, full and hard to keep in order. Some are colorants, herbs I'm going to infuse, exfoliants or milk powder samples...etc. I'm always collecting a sample of or that to experiment with, or my friends saved a packet of this or that for me... Anyway I lose track of...

    What is this?

Have beads of something forming on my soap after one day. It doesn't have honey so that can't be it. I put it on my finger, It don't smell like fragrance oil. I did unmold too soon. Had some difficulty. Learned lesson. But the oil seeping is a mystery. Any thoughts? I guess it could be part of...

    Soap reviews

I could use a professionals opinion on my progress and some of my soaps. What's the 411 on this issue? I don't mean just my recipe, but the actual soaps.

    Yuck! Smells like play dough!

I made a beautiful swirl soap 6 weeks ago using cotton candy fragrance oil. i reserved judgement until now. but IT STILLS SMELLS LIKE PLAY DOUGH! Any suggestions on what I should do? Rebatch? the colors are pink, blue and white so if the rebatch turned purple that acceptable. I've never done...
