What soapy thing have you done today?

Just finished my last Christmas soap, right under the wire! It's my yearly staple, too. Scent O'Claus. :) If you participated in the 2011 Christmas swap, you've gotten one!

    Using hops in beer soap

I will be using olive oil infused with hops, hoppy beer for the liquid, and topping the soaps with dried hops. Will the hops fragrance come through? I will also be using a blend of honey ale and oatmeal stout FO.

Experienced my first soap on a stick!

I subscribe to the philosophy of P.T. Barnum. "Our salmon won't go pink in the can." Lemons into lemonade, it's not a bug, it's a feature, etc.

Experienced my first soap on a stick!

Well, I definitely don't have a fruit cake soap. The embeds all melted and settled at the bottom. What do you think? It smells great. Maybe drizzle some white mp over the top like icing and call it upside down Christmas cake?

Using coconut milk as your lye water

I absolutely love using coconut milk in my soaps. I freeze the coconut milk, and use 50/50 coconut milk and water in my recipes. I've received many compliments on how great the lather is in my coconut milk soaps.

Curious about salt bars, want to try one before making batch

I find my salt bars are best after a longer cure, maybe 8 weeks. I use 100% CO, 20% SF, 75% of the oil weight in regular table salt. Once I have it in the mold, I set my oven at 170 degrees, put the soap in, and turn the oven off. After 2 hours, I take it out and cut it. At this point it's set...
