    What's everyone watching on TV?

My husband and I go through tv phases where we watch a ton of one show and then either reach the end of the series or just gradually stop watching it and never get back to it. Right now it's: Andy Griffith Better Call Saul Cutthroat Kitchen

Once wrapped, can soaps of different scents be stored together?

Ack! I forgot to add they they had been shrink wrapped prior to wrapping them in the paper. A few still curing ones I had left unwrapped during the move and they didn't share their scent, but it seemed like the paper absorbed some scent.

Once wrapped, can soaps of different scents be stored together?

When I moved states I put several different scented soaps in the same container, but wrapped the different scents in thick kraft packing paper to keep them separate. I didn't unpack them for a couple months and they each retained their scents. No issues. When I stored shrink wrapped soaps in the...

    Brambleberry FO sale

I've tried it. Just before I decided to only color with clays and herbs and such. It was a long time ago and I no longer have the recipe I used, but I must have used too much because it bled everywhere in the shower.

What soapy mistake have you made today?

I'm sorry you're having a rough soaping day. I once cut several bars of round soap and placed them on their round edges to transport to the curing rack for some reason. Of course they all rolled right onto the floor as soon as I turned around to walk there.

So what are YOUR soapy secrets?

Not a juicy secret but I have a FO that I asked my husband to give an opinion on. He hated it OOB and said it smelled like marshmallows. He was really repulsed by it. Well I soaped with it and months later a bar made its way into our shower. After using it he raved on and on about how awesome...

    Beer soaps!

Looks great and I bet it makes a wonderful soap. My husband begrudgingly shares some of his home brew beer for my soaps but I doubt he would ever share aged bourbon.

    My lye storage setup

Those buckets are the greatest. The desiccant is genius! I was just pouring my lye into the bucket and it would absorb a bit of moisture from each time I opened it and some granules were sticking to the sides. I resigned myself to just pouring small containers at a time into the bucket but I...

    Question on impulse sealers

Yes I have! It takes about a day for the scent to really come through though. It's not as strong as just smelling a naked bar, but you can clearly smell the scent.

    Question on impulse sealers

Thank you all for the great information. I bought this sealer: http://www.ebay.com/itm/351529696767" It works great with this wrap that I also got: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0083BRXX0/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 I'm glad I took the advice here and went with the 12" one. Perfect size. The...

Fragrance oil addition - with the oils?

I tried this the other day with a FO I've used many times without issue. Thought it might save me time and effort to just mix it in beforehand. My recipe set up so quick I was plopping it into my mold as fast as I could. I won't be trying that again.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made soap with my husband's home brewed beer. I've made beer soap before but never from his home brew. I also tried out a new fragrance: Black Pepper from Oregon Trail. Smells fantastic in the beer soap.

Planing soap - what type is best?

I recently bought an acrylic planer/beveler combo from someone on Etsy. It's a snap to clean and makes my bars look so much more even than when I was using a vegetable peeler. Acrylic is the way to go for me. Just put it under the faucet and the soap washes right off. No rust. No ruined wood.

    Non-Fading Natural Colorants

I just read the post about the indigo crystals. That's some food for thought. Thank you.

    Non-Fading Natural Colorants

I only use natural colorants and here's what I've found from trying different things over the years. I mostly infuse things because I don't like scratchiness. Plants- Annatto: A strong infusion in oil gives a nice orange/yellow color that lasts for me. Madder Root: Strong oil infusion gives...

    Help pouring lye beads

I don't know how much lye you have or how big your batches are but here's what I do. -Store my lye in a bucket with a gamma seal lid (twists off and seals easily) -Use an all stainless steel ladle to scoop the lye from the bucket and never let the lye pile above the top of the spoon -Measure my...
