Wow, your chocolate scent stayed all year. I want to make something like this too. I have a chocolate mint FO I've been wanting to use. And I want to add dark chocolate to it too. That is a great idea! I have also heard of the benefits of dark chocolate too. Some specialty spas use...

On my recent trip to Whole Foods, I picked up Spectrum Organic Shortening. This shortening is made from organic palm oil. The label on the container said it was from a sustainable farm in Columbia. They cost about $7 for 24 oz. You can also find them at shoporganic.com On a side...

    oh my gosh

I was reading about these new caffeinated soap and really want to try it out soon. I think you can do both, CP and MP. But MP would be a better way to go.... i.e., get a clear glycerine M&P base and mix in the No Doz, Jet Alert or 200 milligrams of caffeine and pour into mold. :)

    Question about Fractionated Palm/Liquid Palm.

I don't know much about Palm Olein oil, except that it's use for frying/cooking oil. I would probably plug it in as Palm Oil or Palm Kernal, since it's seem to be closer than Fractionated coconut. Or you can find the SAP value of Palm Olein oil and do your own calculations. I am also...

From aloe plant to aloe soap

If you have a big aloe plant, just take the inside (gel) and use about 1 tbs per pound of soap at trace. That's what I did with my last batch. But if you have the small variety, you can just blend the whole leaf until it becomes a juice. Add at trace. Some people would use aloe juice...

    face cream

There are some beauty line that uses all things with olive oil and they are successful. So it must be working for some people. Once I read that jojoba oil was good for the face, I started using it and a week later started getting little pimples on my face. I stopped using it right away...

Congrats on your fist batch and on making successful swirls. :D On my first batch, I didn't have palm oil around and made one using coconut oil, olive oil, safflower oil, and canola oil..... Probably too much soft oils for my batch, but it turned out pretty good. So I think your bar...

    CP soap using fresh Milk

Thanks Becky. I was thinking the same thing too. Much too soft to be a good bar. I think I'll start off with the regular milk based soap recipe before trying this version. :)

    CP soap using fresh Milk

I saw this recipe from Elaine Whilte's soapmaking page and was curious about this recipe. She said adding an extra cup of cold milk would double up the bars. Wow. Is it possible? I want to believe it could work, but I wanted to see if anyone has really tried anything like this before...

Question on Soap Recipes and Babies

Do avoid any fragrances and essential oils too. There are enough toxic substances in the world that babies have to deal with already. It's best to give them a nice pure soap. I did notice that soapmakers like to make baby soaps with oils infused with or contain calendula petals. And...
