    superfatting

If I remember correctly the usual superfat for a shaving soap is 5-8%. You have to experiment for yourself to find out what works best for you. I recommend reading this thread: http://www.soapmakingforum.com/showthread.php?t=34264 Before reading this thread I had absolutely no clue how...

    Norwegian Treats

    Since Norway is my neighbour country I feel I should have some ideas but I really don't know nothing about Norway! ;_____;

What do I do with these?

I'm going through my DIY-stuff trying to get rid of/use up things to clear up space and after browsing the internet I'm still not sure what or how to use a couple of things, any ideas would be appreciated! Grapefruit seed extract- bought it as a natural preservative but now I know better. Is...

How to add honey to a lotion bar?

I know I read somewhere that if you keep the honey below a certain % It would not make the product sticky, though I can't remember exactly how much, maybe 5% or less?

    Low PH liquid soap

You can't. I was told any kind of soap can't go lower than 9 or around there before it separates, if I remember correctly. Is there something special you have in mind for the low pH soap?

What do you think of this recipe please?

I'm using a 30% shea butter bar right now and I think it's quite nice. You could probably up the Shea to 35% to get it hard enough, more than that could compromise the lather.

    Well- screwed that up!!

It looks great, I would give an arm for that perfect pink in my soaps!

    Egg yolk soap

Awesome! I'm still waiting for my egg testing soaps to reach the two month mark before testing them again, since I didn't notice anything special at the one month mark, exciting ~

Olive oil vs HO Sunflower oil

I don't know how it lathers on it own but sunflower oil doesn't seem to reduce the lathering abilities of other oils like olive oil does. I'm using a Bastille soap right now, among others, and I have to say that it's growing on me

    Emulsifying wax help

Yes, that is the in shower lotion bars I was thinking about! That's the whole reason I wanted to get some emulsifying wax. Maybe I should have linked that thread in the first post.

    Emulsifying wax help

I know, I have a plan! I'm just not so good at telling people about it apparently

    Lye Only?

I've been wondering about this too, there doesn't seem to be any real consensus among the soapers. Logically both lye and soap is reasonably water soluble so there shouldn't be any problem to completely wash everything away... But you never know.

    Emulsifying wax help

I know, I'm just so exited about this and want to get ready to place my order as fast as possible as it will take a couple of weeks before the stuff arrives. I am sorry if don't sound very nice. (Not being passive aggressive here) The stupid thing is, I looked around both on swiftcraftmonkey...

    Happy Birthday Castile!

Yeah, I think a lot of people can relate to that, lol. I think the main reasons people make them is because it's an old classic, they are very gentle on the skin and very easy to do since you only need one oil and not a lot of formulating. I'm using an 8-9 (I think) old Bastille right now...

    Emulsifying wax help

Okay, nobody wants to take pity on me today? ;__; I've looked around some more and narrowed it down to those two but I still have no idea of which one is best, anybody who know? Emulsifying wax N200 INCI: Cetearyl Alcohol and PEG20 Stearate Emulsifying wax NF INCI: Cetearyl Alcohol...

Preservatives and the role of liquids in body butter?

I don't think so, if I remember correctly cetearyl alcohol is usually used as a thickener.

First try at HP...what do you think went wrong?

I'm thinking the hard soap in the bottom might be gelled soap. How did it look? Darker and sort of half translucent?

    Emulsifying wax help

I came across some threads about those in shower lotion bars a while ago and they seems awesome, so now I'm on the hunt after a good all around emulsifying wax but I have absolutely no idea what to look for. Does any of these seem good...

    Can you see it???

Awesome! Though its good to hear others had a bad Spring too. I was so exited to start sowing indoors in February and be ready to get everything outside early this year and then the bad weather sets in in Aprils and ruins everything. Then I got side tracked by soap making... But me and my...

    Soap Room/Storage

I would like to know as well, my way of curing and storing soap at the moment is far from ideal.
