Tried soaping at room temp FALSE TRACE :( Need help rebatching

I agree it does look more like a seizure. Lavender EO's can do that sometimes. You could either hp it in a crockpot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VRGIPSBqF8 or put it in a stainless steel pot and pop it into the oven https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ko0pJgIKRFM or...

    Is yogurt HP soap possible?

Yes, I have made lots of HP soap with yogurt. I use enough water to make a 50 lye solution and let it cool, and use enough yogurt to make it a 28% lye solution. I hope that makes sense. I freeze the yogurt to a slushy stage, then stick blend it into the oils before the lye water is added. Just...

DOS - Dreaded Orange Spots - let's track the cause!

Here's a link to a single oil swap and the results : http://www.zensoaps.com/singleoil.htm I love lard in my soap, but had troubles with DOS/rancidity if I did HP with it. Now when I use lard, I only do cp, and use low temps. Maybe the lye was too hot in the HP, maybe I melted it on too...

    Your all-time favorite soap

One of my favorites has a generous helping of Yogurt in it. I use half water, half yogurt. I love it, it makes such a nice rich creamy lather. I also love avocado soap. I have not made any of that in quite some time....maybe I should make some this weekend. :-) Most of my soaps are the same...

    Supper fatting for lather?

Yes, adding a superfat oil/butter after the cook in HP is the only way that you can be sure that your soap is superfatted with that particular oil/butter. Still I take at least a 3% discount on the lye upfront to make sure that all of the lye is gone just for my own piece of mind. Then I add...

    Adding powdered colorants

I have also seen people use a frother to mix their colorants. I have one, but for some reason I haven't gotten it out to try yet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ph6-AMQLkEg

    Supper fatting for lather?

You are right that In order for castor to bring more bubbles that it has to go through the sap process. You can't always believe everything you read in a book (or on the internet  ). Unfortunately, there are some soap making books out there that contain a lot of outdated information, or...

    1st timer

Very pretty looking soap! the ammonia smell comes from the GM reacting with the lye. It will go away. As far as the discoloration, did you check with the supplier to see if that particular fo discolors? I've not had that happen with any straight up apple fo's but something like an apple...

Bath Bombs looked great...then sunk some?

GoinNatural, Those bath bombs are GORGEOUS! I used to make tons of bath bombs back in the day. Humidity in the air/rainy day can have a lot to do with how they turn out. Looks like you hit this one out of the park! Congrats on your success!
