"I will PAY you to teach me!"

I have two acquaintances lately, to whom I've gifted soap, and who want to learn how to make it themselves. For each of them I've sent them the link to this forum, told them what supplies they would need and also directed them to a few blogs and articles that got me started and helped build my...

    Positive Feedback!

My mom has three bars of my soap at her house and flatly refuses to try mine until she has used every other ounce of soap that was already in her house--so half-used shower gels, coupon buys, Bath & Body Works gift sets...they all must be used before mine. Mothers: if they only understood the...

    Positive Feedback!

I have gifted soaps to about 4 people--family members and a couple of close coworkers. Not for any reason but to have them try it and get their feedback. (Always after a full 6 wk cure and me using it first) I made a 100% coconut oil soap that I have found I prefer as a shampoo bar over body...

    Insights on facial bar soap

I'm 37 and have oily skin that, in the past few years, has almost entirely stopped breaking out. I wear makeup and use makeup removing wipes, but other than that only the occasional exfoliation with co & sugar. Normally just water and a wash cloth. I haven't used soap on my face in years. I...

Has anyone used beets or beet juice to make soap?

I'm going to spend the next few months trying to work this into conversation. :p

    Christmas Soap!

Please forgive me for posting every soap I make, but each batch still feels like a minor miracle! I'm really happy with these bars! The recipe is 80% lard and less than 24 hrs cut they feel very hard. The green is a mix of french green clay and nettle leaf powder. The top is just a portion I...

    80% Lard Soaps..OK, I Get it Now.

I just made a 2lbs batch with these proportions. I have used lard in all but one soap so far. I'm very excited to see how this turns out. Scented with WSP White Christmas, french green clay and nettle powder added to most of it for green color. Also 2 tbs ppo of sugar added to lye water...

Advice while 1st Pine tar soap oils cooling!

An update on the soap I posted about---I made it Friday, cut it Saturday morning. Today it is already considerably less sticky and the smell is GREATLY reduced. I only smell the pine tar if I stick my nose directly on the bar. I didn't use any scents or other additives. Can't wait to try it...

Advice while 1st Pine tar soap oils cooling!

Turned out pretty good, I think! Can't wait to try it. This is very different texture than any other soap I've made. Even hardened, its sticky and really stuck to my cutter..

Advice while 1st Pine tar soap oils cooling!

Thanks all for the quick advice. It was in an old thread here that I came across that suggestion. One of the biggest challenges I'm finding along my soapy journey is sifting through the mountains of information and tid bits to find the best recipes and methods!!

Advice while 1st Pine tar soap oils cooling!

I have planned on trying a pine tar soap for some time. I've been reading up on it and I thought I had a good handle on it. Chose a recipe I've used several times now--no scents, no additives. Then, while I'm sitting here waiting for my lye water and oils to cool I stumble across a post that...

    Honey Oatmeal Soap

I was the first time I used it, but as with most of my soapy endeavours, I had to do it wrong to understand how to get it right. :) Thanks!

    Honey Oatmeal Soap

Yeah, I don't mind the flecks aesthetically. I like them! But as a newbie I don't trust myself to identify dos yet. Thanks!

    Honey Oatmeal Soap

This is a soap I'm hoping to gift for Christmas, if I'm happy with it after curing. This is my 5th time using this base recipe. I started adding sugar and really liked the fluffy bubbles it added, but here I added honey at 1 tbs ppo. I dissolved it in the water before adding lye. At light trace...
