    Question about shrink-wrapping soap

Haha!! You are right!!! I unwrapped it, and it smelled just as strong as the unwrapped one! I will have to weigh a bar of soap before and after shrink wrapping to make sure, but it looked smaller after wrapping. I suppose that if I shrink wrapped the bars before they finished curing, the...

    Question about shrink-wrapping soap

I tried some shrink wrap for my soap that was scented with lavender essential oil. First, it seemed to make my soap shrink a bit (it was not fully cured - just playing around with the wrap - not ready for use). Second, it seemed that the scent decreased (there was a large hole left by...

Lotion goes on with white streaks and draggy

Same situation as with Polawax...I couldn't get the exact ingredients. I did not think it important, but I guess if I don't know the exact ingredients in the Ewax, then I can not replicate the results with any other brand of Ewax. What about Lanette wax? What is that like?

Lotion goes on with white streaks and draggy

Does the "soaping effect" dry out the skin like soap would? I got a new emulsifier by Milliard off Amazon. It does not give the chemical name. I wonder if this might make a difference?

Lotion goes on with white streaks and draggy

I gather that the stearic acid is a thickener? And use cetyl alcohol in the place of stearic acid?

Lotion goes on with white streaks and draggy

I made lotion using this recipe: 18 oz. Distilled Water 1.2 oz. Shea Butter 1.7 oz. Sweet Almond Oil 1 oz. Avocado Oil 1.2 oz. Emulsifying Wax 1 oz. Stearic Acid .2 oz. Phenonip .1 oz. Fragrance It goes on with white streaks and draggy. So, I read this, and wondered if what I am getting is...

    Best ratios for body butter?

I made one that was 75% butters and it wound up becoming too hard to get out of the jar. How do you get it to be light and fluffy? The one that I had made w/o cocoa butter wound up deflating and the oils separated out of it.

    Proportion guideline for lotion recipe?

Is there a standard of ingredient proportions for lotion making?

    Best ratios for body butter?

Is there such a thing? Or does it vary by the buttes and oils used?

    Soap cutter advice needed

I watched some vids on the essential depot cutter. Theirs have handles in the front to pull down to cut. I wonder if this is an advantage or disadvantage? I noticed that the back end lifted up when applying force to cut the soap. Does this happen with the "tank?"

    Soap cutter advice needed

I am considering one of these cutters. If anyone has experience with either of these or any other that are better than either of these, please advise. http://www.essentialdepot.com/product/RED-SOAP-CUTTER-LONG.html...

Lotions and scrubs with EOs in clear plastic containers?

I made some lotion and scrubs and scented with EO. I am wondering if storing them in clear containers would cause the EOs to dissipate too quickly? I am coloring my scrubs, so I like being able to see the colors, but if the clear will cause the EOs to dissipate quickly, I will need to change...

Good sub for cocoa butter in body butter?

Maybe I could use 50/50 mango/kokum.... No worry of anaphylaxsis....not allergic to it, but sensitive to it that it makes me tired or depresses my immune system. Definitely do NOT want to smell like icky chocolate flowers, LOL!! : )

Good sub for cocoa butter in body butter?

Yes, I subbed the CB amt with shea + the shea amt. Definitely!!! That is what I experienced..."chocolate lavender." I had to add MORE lavender to cover the chocolate scent, but it still sneaked through. I am actually sensitive to the theobromine in chocolate....and CB has some in it. I...

Good sub for cocoa butter in body butter?

I made a really nice body butter using: Cocoa butter Shea butter Avocado oil Jojoba oil I really liked the firm texture and what it did for my skin, but I do not fare well with all things chocolate, and I could smell the cocoa in the CB even though it was deodorized. So, I made some...

Sugar scrub, changed ingredients, strange outcome!

Thank you! I had no idea that there would be such a difference in feel between emulsifiers! I am too new to this to know what emollients and esters to add to make it nice. Do you know of anything more natural than Ewax that would have the same feel as Ewax?
