    What's in your shower now?

We bought a corner shelf so now I can have lots of soap in the shower at once! Heaven. But what had me taking an extra-long shower this morning was the first test am of my new seaweed swirl salt bar. I completely and utterly in love. What's in your shower right now that you love to use?

    New Crafter needs some help

I know you said you are covered in scars but I do recommend you try rubbing straight Shea butter on them. The stuff is nothing short of miraculous. I had a pimple/cyst thing on my chest for months. Shea butter got rid of it with 36 hours. Try making a lotion bar with Shea butter and avocado...

    Latest soaps

Probably luck! I managed to get it to trace really, really slowly and it poured nice and flat. Then I waited a couple of minutes and poured the purple layer over the spatula.

    What people really want

I got a ton of stuff last week. Lots of stuff to unpack it was great! Heaps of new mica colours to play with. But now I think I need a new scale...

    Got my ocean... maybe

As it stands, I wouldn't use this FO again. My batch is pretty much a disaster. I don't really like the scent either. I don't want a tropical smell, I want a salty ocean smell. There are little liquid pockets in it (likely FO because I couldn't blend it properly), I only got five slices that...

    Got my ocean... maybe

Yes salt bars. I'll try that next time - adding to the oils. I usually soap at around room temps, I know the oils were about that. The lye was probably a little warmer. It was all going beautifully until I added that fragrance. Glad I didn't use full strength.

    Got my ocean... maybe

My Saffire Blue supplies arrived and I decided I would christen the new silicon mould with an ocean breeze scented soap that I got in the pile of new stuff. Well, my first time with major acceleration. It was almost at trace so I went and measured out the fragrance, only half-strength, poured it...

Is this soap going to upset sensitive skin?

Yep what they said. I use these oils all the time. 40 olive up to 20 CO and 8% SF is staple for me in this super dry climate.

    Sapphire Blue

I really don't want to either. Not worth it for me. A friend went and showed this store my soaps without even asking me if it was what I wanted ! I'm not ready to sell and too busy to make much soap. I was only planning on maybe a small table at farmers markets. I'm really not interested in...

    Sapphire Blue

Thanks I've never tried Canwax. I wanted a silicon loaf mould and NDA has been out of stock for a while but Saffire had it. A shop is very keen to buy soaps from me and I was rather unprepared for that so I had to do a big order. I can't even do the lip balm until this stuff comes in and I'm...

    Sapphire Blue

Ugh. Again. Seven business days and my order still says 'in fulfillment'. And my voyageur order has an item on backorder so that's delayed too. At least they called me, I love their CS. I chose to wait because I need that item. The Saffire Blue home page says several business days, but seven...

    Lye Fumes

Even the slightest whiff of that stuff has me coughing. It really irritates my throat so I usually wear the mask as well as have the exhaust on full blast and have then jug as far away as I can while I'm doing the oils.

straight sided small soap log molds

It's just a box really. I wanted cheap too!

straight sided small soap log molds

I use a $10 bamboo kitchen organizer box thingy from Canadian Tire. It's not very tall though which is why my soaps are quite square and chunky. Can't wait until my silicone loaf one arrives from Saffire Blue.

    New bar

I put the salt bar shavings to good use.

    How many knitters?

I do that too! Makes the place so messy I'm really trying to stick to one thing at a time.

    Salt bar cutting

I will look into better moulds! For right now I cleaned them up by shaving the sides with a small serrated kitchen knife and then an exfoliating cloth under running water. It took ages but I'm happy with them! I left one small edge rough I liked the look. A couple of them look like kelp :) Pics...

    How many knitters?

I knit and I also figured out how to crochet a few months ago.
