    Sea water soap

Gosh so while I'm standing on a ladder with my head in the soaping cupboard... Here they are. I've started on one already and they are great. The scent is perfect.

    Sea water soap

Ok the stage is set, I'm about to go for it. The seawater smelled fine. Actually I couldn't smell anything at all. I didn't have a coffee filter so I just boiled it in the microwave and poured slowly. Good enough!

    Irrational Fear? :)

To be fair though, I've done a ton of chemistry at university. Just wear gloves and safety glasses and don't spill it.

    Irrational Fear? :)

Huh. It's in little granules so I'm not scared of it at all. Although the first time I made soap the hubby tried to 'help' and the lye ended up all over the kitchen! Now he is banned while I am making soap...

    Sea water soap

This sea water is getting closer to getting tossed down the drain...

    Sea water soap

Hmm. I'm getting more grossed out by the day! I just haven't had a chance to do anything with it. I think I've been back from Oregon 4 weeks now.

    Grabbed an old soap and...

So I'm using ye olde soap on my face as originally intended and I keep forgetting to moisturize because my skin doesn't feel dry anymore. Can't complain...

    Sea water soap

Good because I don't have coffee filters. Our machine has a washable one. I don't mind being a daredevil it's an experiment after all. Now do I make the recipe as I would a salt bar, tons of CO? I'm assuming that's the thing to do or I wouldn't her bubbles right? I am not sure how long two...

    Sea water soap

Hmm. Boiling is easy but how would I filter it? I don't have a filter jug. Our water comes out of the fridge.

    Sea water soap

I finally got myself some seawater - don't laugh but I was in Oregon a few weeks ago and filled a couple of water bottles. And I got the Oceanus fragrance from Voyager and it's perfect. So. Is this seawater even useable, and safe? It's been sitting on the kitchen bench since we got back. And if...

    Card Making

I've been wondering lately how to put my photos on cards, but still be hand made. I would like to learn to make cards but I'm afraid my hubby might leave me if I started yet another hobby!

    Leaves

I should be ok then - they are dried Eucalyptus leaves and I live in a dry as heck province. Raining now, but that's only because it's monsoon June. The only way I will attract soapies (soap groupies :D) is if my soaps look nothing like the plain hunks of colour in the local shops. Not that I...

    Leaves

I seem to remember reading something about it not being a good thing to put florals etc. in soap? I am wondering why - will it go bad? Asking because I added some decoration to my soap. It's only just on top. I just wanted to. Hoping that's not bad.

    For those who sell..

I've only just started selling a little and I'm finding a lack of interest. My town has two soap stores. I don't plan to make or sell a lot just a few markets here of there - but it would be nice to turn a profit. In a way I'd kinda like to be bigger because I enjoy making my own stuff - but...

    Grabbed an old soap and...

You read about this when you start soaping but until you experience it you don't really get it. My soaps are useable after a week or two, ok after two weeks, nice to use after four weeks but I've noticed after 2-3 months they become really sweet. But that honey one I think I made it last year...

    Grabbed an old soap and...

Now I love it! It's months old honey and oatmeal that did nothing for me at the time now actually smells like honey and is so nice. And to think I was considering throwing them all away. Must start diving into the basket of old soaps more and see what else is hiding in there. I don't know what...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I ordered $200 worth of supplies (ouch) and folded some cardboard baskets I bought for the next market and filled them with Kraft shred. I love how they look. I contemplated making soap but didn't get around to it.
