It's my regular recipe. Just new fragrance. Last time I did it no gel at all. Na I more want to know what you all would do :) soaping again tomorrow.

    Decisions

You effed up a batch you were excited about... new fragrance (in my case, vanilla and wanted to do swirls with colour top but it went from liquid to solid in 0-10 seconds - and to top it off a partial gel and no sign of attempted swirls). Do you: a) Try it again right away, and try to get it...

    Hello From Arizona

Hi! I just got back from Phoenix a couple of days ago, lovely weather you're having. Now I'm back in the snow. Bah.

Subbed avocado oil for shea butter in salt bars, ugh, me no likee

Huh. Mine are 80% CO 20% AO and I love them that's how I did it the first time and I can't remember if I stuck with the avocado or not, I think I did. I'll have to try Shea sometime to compare.

What qualifies a soapmaker to be an "artisan"?

The word artisan for me implies an expert craftsman. Not a beginner. I would expect years of experience. I sure wouldn't apply that label to myself at two years in but it sure does sound fancy!

    Shampoo bars and water quality?

Just mentioned all this to hubby who said maybe the old place (condos) did have a softener installed that we didn't know about. Possible I guess. The place before that had harder water for sure. So I guess I want to make my bars waterproof! Well at least function in varying degrees of hardness.

    Shampoo bars and water quality?

Hmm. My dandruff issues went away with the shampoo bars. My scalp just hates commercial shampoo. I never needed to do the acid rinse either. I never thought of the sudden greasy hair syndrome being due to water until this week. But it is since we bought the house in a different town that the...

    Shampoo bars and water quality?

I'm in holiday. The place we are staying has a water softener. Neither of my homes did/do.

    Shampoo bars and water quality?

No cos they used to be fine. And seem to be fine here too. Not sure what's been going on in between. Wonder what will happen when I get home. I'll use the same bar. It's so weird even in one week sometimes my hair was ok but mostly not lately. I just thought it was the bars but now I think it...

How strong is too strong? How fancy is too fancy?

I like to make them pretty but not overly elaborate. I like to match the colours and style to the scent, and I make my bars about the right size for my hand. I find the cupcake ones awkward to use and although they drew a bit of attention people didn't buy them so I gave most of them away as...

    Shampoo bars and water quality?

I've been using my shampoo bars for about 18 months and they've been perfect for my hair and scalp. Then a few months ago, not so perfect, my hair was always greasy and so I thought maybe with some of the bars being super well cured (over a year old) that maybe they were now too mild and not...

Five most annoying things about master batching

Well the bucket is still liquid I didn't see any clumps but I'll check before using. Evergreen is cut and now I'm thinking to do a real quick vanilla tomorrow. Because that big bucket of oil is very tempting. And my soapy things are sitting clean and dry in the sink. Just too good to resist.

Five most annoying things about master batching

LOL I'm vegetarian I don't have lard containers! I liked the idea of just one container... as long as it doesn't harden. It was super easy to pour out the right weight. The sink water was hot enough, I just had to leave it sitting there for 20 minutes or so while I did other stuff. Hoping it...

Five most annoying things about master batching

Awesome list. And I made a nice soapy mess today. My spoons do bend in the ice cream and I hate that! I use an ice cream scoop unless I'm too lazy to get it out. I guess if I was wealthy I wouldn't buy my cutlery at Ikea huh.

Five most annoying things about master batching

I'm in Canada. Home Depot - 20 minute drive to the city. Lowes - 40 minute drive. My town - tiny little Home Hardware. And I hope this one sells lye, I haven't checked yet.

Five most annoying things about master batching

Yes, hubby would love this... NOT. He gets pissy enough when I use his tools to do my DIY wood projects!

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made soap! It's been at least a month maybe longer. Someone as uncoordinated as I am probably shouldn't be doing this. It's evergreen BTW.

Five most annoying things about master batching

Oh they didn't have anything like that... only regular buckets and this big beast. And strangely big white lids to fit bucket sizes they didn't sell and no lids for this one. I'll try a bigger store or just deal with this beast. I kinda wanted just one bucket instead of a ton of them. There is...
