Why is Dr Bronner Baby Mild so soft

Cool thanks I am mainly after an all purpose personal care soap hands, body, hair, face, and maybe the odd delicate laundry item hand Washed. But I find Dr Bronners works fairly well for lightly soiled silks, wools and socks, hosiery etc

Less number of different oils vs high number of different oils

Oh I see I just have read tutorials here and other websites that they add spoon full per pound of luxury oil of choice at trace and then it would sponify

Less number of different oils vs high number of different oils

Thanks for your responses. I was thinking of trying coconut 30% Palm oil 30% Olive 30% Castor 5% and Almond 5%. At 3 % super fat. And then add a 1% Jojoba and 1% Avocado at trace. Otherwise 2% of one or the other. How does that sound?

Less number of different oils vs high number of different oils

Is there benefit of using a high number of different oils in a soap formula vs lesser or single numbers? Some recipes call for up to 7 oils in COLD process soap. For example a base of 30% Coconut, 30% Palm, 30% Olive, then 10% you can add 3 or 4 luxury oils like Shea, Castor, Jojoba, Almond...

Why is Dr Bronner Baby Mild so soft

Is it cleansing as well as soft. Like can it be used all purpose? Like laundry, floors etc.

Why is Dr Bronner Baby Mild so soft

Hi I think the secret of Dr BRONNER'S is the extra jojoba and hemp oil added at trace. Jojoba oil is a wax so it doesn't sponify as readily. That is what makes it so soft.

    Laundry soap for delicates

Hi Earlene to wash delicates I just lather a bit of soap on my hands run through the water, and rub stains directly with the bar with some water and lather up. Dunk and swirling the garments. I also have to look into making liquid soap... For this purpose. I find grating is annoying as I use...

    Laundry soap for delicates

Yes that's what I was aiming at but I substitutes lard for Palm as I am not keen on animal fats in clothes. Even if there should be no trace left. I find it such a waste to use EVOO for soaping even though it cost almost the same as Olive and pomace. It's just we have to much abundance of it...

    Laundry soap for delicates

I don't mind using surfactants, it is ok for lightly soiled clothes to get rid of heavy soiled clothes you can't go past soap...? Turpentine is just a stain remover, like eucalyptus, sometimes you need oil to remove oil.

    Laundry soap for delicates

Thanks can you please tell me how much borax you use per pound, and do you use it with trace?

    Laundry soap for delicates

Thanks for your responses, I have made 100 % coconut oil soap before and I do use that in the wash for regular clothes. I hand wash delicates and this seems harsh and strips the colour. Perhaps I am using too much soap. That's why I wanted to try 33% Palm, Coconut, Olive. Soap Queen said it...

    Laundry soap for delicates

I am making a laundry soap to wash wool and silk. I decided of 33% Palm oil, 33% Olive, 33% coconut. 0% super fat. Adding a dash of turpentine, and borax at trace. How much borax per pound goes in at trace? What does Borax do to the soap? I understand it softens the water. In this recipe...

    Laundry Soap

Hi I have been trying to make liquid soap detergent from hard soap flakes. The problem is the blended liquid soap will not readily dissolve in cold hard water. Also soap flakes won't dissolve in cold water directly.

    Coconut Oil Laundry Soap

My soap cleanses quite well for delicates I think most suppliers cut it with about 20 to 30 Palm oil or vegetable oil.

    Coconut Oil Laundry Soap

Oh I see, thank you for the response. What else can I use instead of lard to cut down the coconut oil. I am only using this laundry soap for delicates.

Why is Dr Bronner Baby Mild so soft

I don't understand how Dr Bronners can be soft and non drying, and yet cleans clothes my delicates without residue. But it's not tough on stains that the only problem. I have to use a separate stain bar which I'm trying to make. I love using Almond and Rose one as a face cleanser, body wash and...

    Coconut Oil Laundry Soap

I will make it with - 0.5% superfat and add some essential oils and maybe a dash of turpentine. I cannot stand the smell of coconut and can't risk having even a drop of unsponafied coconut oil left. And I will add some borax to being down the PH.

    Coconut Oil Laundry Soap

I normally buy 4 bars of the yellow stain bars at the supermarket. It's very cheap. 500g for $2 or something. It's harsh on my hands and clothes though. But there is a joy in making your own soap with natural ingredients and putting in what you know is in there.

    Coconut Oil Laundry Soap

So you add it later but not to the soap. Yes I would like to know if this is ok for delicates like wool and silks.

    Coconut Oil Laundry Soap

Hi I am thinking of making 100% CO oil 0% superfat bar soap to clean my delicates. Would that be ok, and does anyone add borax at trace to the soap to soften the water. I have hard water as my place.
